# 1 Borg STF Drops
04-27-2012, 12:39 AM
I played for a week every night like 10 to 15 STF games in elite except off losing A lot off money on regen tools to heal my char or repair my ship.
I did't get much in return !! I thought they increased the drop rate off STF's ???
are they playing jokes on me or is the drop rate decreased ??

Also I heard Gozer say ferengi lockboxes is't taking over normal loot but all I get in STF's most off it are Lock Boxes, Last time with an STF night I had over 120 lock boxes so what the hack they expect me to do buy 120 key from the cryptic store to open it ?
They think wrong I put them on exchange for 1 EC, It's definly ruin the game in a whole .
Same as those stupid anouncements that Jack get an D'kora what do I care ???

Please find better ways to make money !!!
Like putting STF Gear for sale in the C-Store or someting ???

Persistence is key.

In the last 3 weeks I've run 250+ elite and normal STFs and have gotten

Numerous rare salvage for a whole arsenal of Mk X and XI weapons
About a dozen prototype salvage
Enough space tech to equip 2 cruisers and 1 escort

Not too shabby. Don't be in a rush to get things and they will drop from the sky. I average 2 prototype salvage per night and about 4-6 rare salvages.

I scored my first prototype tech and ground tech almost immediately after the drop rate update.

STF gear is available in the STF store for EDC. You get a guaranteed EDC drop for completing STF's. You also get dilithium.

The Mk-XII sets will be available in the STF store very soon actually. Of course there will then be a brand new set available for drop only.

I am not even going to touch the Lock Box issue anymore. It has become a complete joke.

P.S. Make sure you hit NEED on every item drop so have a shot at it even though you do not need it so you can sell it and get the EC.

Everything is worth EC. Everyone NEED's everything. Especially now with so many C store items available on the exchange.

If you choose GREED then your just giving away EC.

Always choose NEED on every drop.

We have had debates on this issue in the forum and the conclusion as well as consensus is that the NEED/GREED option is completely outdated.

It may have had its time and place long ago when the game launched and for some period of time after, but it has become completely irrelavent.

There are people in the game that stick to the old way like it was some kind of law and go out of their way to berate players who choose NEED on everything, but that is their problem. They need to get with the program.

95 percent of the drops are nothing but vendor trash and pretty much unusable by the vast majority of people since they pretty much shouold already have close to the best load out anyway and the few things that are valuable noone is going to choose GREED on since it can be sold for such a large sum to get something else they do need.

Everything anyone could possibly need in the way of consoles and weapons that are good enough for an STF can be had from some mission reward. High end PvP items that drop are few and far between and noone with a brain is going to just give it away by hitting GREED when they know full well that even if they can't use that particular item they can sell it and get the thing they want.

So quibbling over someone choosing NEED on a piece of green vendor trash that noone will use anyway is being silly.

This is particularly true in elite STF's since you would not be in one unless you were already pretty much fitted out with good equipment and most people have, or will have very rare STF store weapons and sets if they are doing elite STF's anyway.

EDC's and Tech Drops do not fall under the Need / Greed system and that along with the dilithium are the primary rewards people are after in an STF. The rest is divided up by rolling for it. Fair and square.

I am not going to nerf my ability to buy a Galor, a D'Kora, a Doff Pack, a Cross Faction Console, or a Master Key, or a new Boff for some player who wants green drops to fit out their 100th ship on their 10th Alt because they can't afford to equip the 100 ships they want to have in the ship yard and they don't want to have to take gear off of one ship to put on the one they plan to use. Green and Purple items are dirt cheap on the exchange as it is. Often enough you can find green and purple equipment on the exchange for less than you can sell it to the vender for.

I recollect one item recently that I was checking the exchange for a price on and I ended up buying the last 20 of them and selling them all to the vender for a profit.

Or at least, a proto when someone do 50 or 100 STF. Maybe one from every 100 "any STF" or every 50 from "that" STF mission.

Thanks to everybody for the fun sorry for my bad english.

P.D.: Please, no more rare borg (standar, nor tech) on elite STF.

Lets see now.

I currently have

x42 Prototype Borg Salvage. (Plus x16 Mk-XII Borg Weapons)

x24 Rare Borg Salvage (Sold all my MK-X and Mk-XI space gear I bought with STF drops that I don't use anymore at the vender.)

x6 complete MACO/OMEGA sets both space and ground. (x4 Space and x2 Ground including x3 Mk-XII sets.)

About 200 EDC's (I have spent an additional 300+ hundred on Doffs)

I would have more salvage, EDC's, and tech, but I traded about x100 of them in for Mystery Packages during the Galor Lock Box event. Only got x2 Gold Boxes out of it and decided not to use them this time.

All I can say is keep at it people. I got most of what I listed before the last two drop rate increases.
