# 1 Requesting Duty Officer Fix
04-30-2012, 02:24 AM
I've spent nearly $2000 supporting Cryptic and this game, I love it so much. I've acquired and purchased just about everything you can think of, every C-Store item, lockbox items, pre-launch retail exclusive items, tribble testing rewards, I had the most beautiful collection of almost every exclusive rare and unique items you can think of... until this week.

I misread a doff assignment about sending a changeling back to Earth and selected my Tactical Exocomp (Tier 2 F2P Testing Reward) on the assignment. I thought it was 'escorting' the changeling and figured it would be the perfect escort, something a changeling can't successfully morph into... turns out the Exocomp became the changeling being sent to Earth and was lost.

I created several tickets asking if there was anyway it could be restored, undone, rolled back... but no luck. Now my 'collection' will forever be incomplete and after putting so much time and money into it I feel devastated. While I have come to accept that there's no fix for myself, I'm instead pleading with Cryptic to make sure this never happens to anyone else.

If there are any duty officer assignments that intentionally result in the loss of the doff being sent on them, when the person clicks the "Start Assignment" button, please add a popup window that says "Completing this assignment will result in this loss of this duty officer. Do you wish to proceed?" with a Yes/No button they have to click to continue.

Please Cryptic, don't let other people have to go through what I am, especially when I know there's things you can do to prevent it from happening ever again.

Sorry but that really was bad, but the mission explicitly states in red you will permantly lose the DOFF assigned to that mission.

Always read the missions.

Sometimes the red text is not immediately visible and you have to scroll down to see it (eg if the mission has the yellow text above it or if you are running low resolution display).

It is easy to make the mistake of not seeing the red text.. indeed i have done so witha purple doff in the past too...

I support this idea 110% and feel bad for you...

Poor you. Your Exocomp was a changeling spy... all along. Terrible security leak. If I were you, I'd be happy that it got exposed and gotten rid of.

I did exactly the same thing the other day with a blue officer. Just have to chalk it up to lessons learned.

Please DON'T put any more pop-ups.

And as a previous poster pointed out, can't you reclaim that exocomp?

Sorry, but I have to disagree...

This is a game that has a ton of information; information you have to aquire/read for you to be actually knowledgable in this game.

I am sorry, but there is a ton of information to be found...

Even if its still outdated; the STOwiki is a good source as is here on this forum The Academy...

I cant understand where this question comes from; I really cant...

This is once more a request from someone (ONE...) that did something dumbass-like, and now he is trying to ask his doff back??... No way, Josť...

But I must admit OP did ask for some kind of a warning signal/sign (whatever) so that other players dont do the same... But then I ask myself...: Is it really that hard to move your mouse-cursor to the top right of the doff window; to the mission description and READ the damn thing, even once...? (dont make me laugh when you're going to say I dont wanna scroll... whahahaha)

Apologies, but this is actually ridiculous when you think of it...

Yes, you did spend alot of money on this game; that doesnt make you eligible for demanding stuff you know you lost because of you...
PS: it was your own CHOICE to spend all that money on sto... Boohoo you lost something... Mistakes happen; sometimes you can correct 'em, sometimes you just can not... This is a case of can not.

Sorry, but I cant agree... I mean come on, I think we are all old enough to be able to READ... That is a skill not found in StarTrek Online, but that is a skill you learned when you were younger, in school...

I think I made my point; I could go on for a while though to be honest... But I wont. I made my point and now I will stop.

Greetz

PSS: I have a collectors edition... (nothing special, just the rmc, a badge and a hard cover manual...)

I admit, this is not a considerate post... But I wasnt trying to make one.

Oh, and this: you screwed up, live with it...! Just as I do in real life...

Wow create a thread about trying to prevent things like this happening again to someone else and some people can't resist trying to turn it into something else, lol. Yes I made a mistake in the game, lost a very exclusive item that can't be restored through any in game methods, so I tried to get it back though two tickets.

Unfortunately for some reason they're unable to do this, so instead I'm instead trying to make sure it doesn't happen to anyone else. No idea where you got the idea of being eligable to demand stuff I lost because of my own mistake, I never said I was eligable for for special treatment nor would I ever go around demanding anything. I screwed up and am living it, hence this entire thread to try to help stop it happening to someone else.

Now if you have something actually worthy of adding to the conversation, reasons you agree or disagree with my idea, that would be great. But if all you're going to post is a few angry lines about things that I havn't said or done, then maybe you should go troll someone else :-P
