A mix of things would probably be most useful in my opinion. Delta/Peregine combo for example, would launch 4 tachyon beams followed by 6 quantum torpedos...that would cause some damage I'd say...or the runabouts snare the targets for increased crits. But like most things, in the end it comes down to what you want to do. Perigins are the safe choice since they're always useful, but used well, the others have their merits as well.

According to the description, it supposedly jams targetting systems as well, which could potentially make them useful for tanking carriers.
I've had some real success in PvP with my carrier build. Pretty much stick to keeping a constant stream of blue peregrines going and it does the best DPS I can manage.
If fighting 1v1 with an escort or against an escort heavy team, 1 hanger of blue Danume Runabouts and 1 hanger of blue Peregrines does the trick at making them easy targets whilst keeping up DPS.
I've been very underwhelmed by the damage of the Stalkers and rarely use them. They seem to be most useful for preventing cloaking. (Again, I use blues).
Shield drones (blue) are pretty effective but you are sacrificing substantial amounts DPS to use them. Great for a support orientated carrier with a good DPS team.
The delta flyers I have found to be useful in situations where your enemy has a range of AoE attacks and a using them effectively to take out your pets. The deltas can withstand a lot more punishment and one attack is unlikely to take them out. Not as good DPS as the peregrines however if the peregrines are dead they are not adding to DPS. I switch to these only as needed.
Unfortunatly they can't be equiped by Fed Carriers, but they seem to be bugged somewhat at the moment anyhow.
Well, if enough Feds scream for their carriers to be able to handle them the Devs'll most likely make it so they can.
Doesn't matter as of yet as I have a ton of stuff on my list that either costs dilithium or requires a dilithium exchange. Either way, looks like my sci will be getting a lot of use outta her recon sci vessel when she hits level 40. At least I'll have the Tac Escort Retrofit if I need the extra DPS, even tho that'll nerf my sci skills.
