I just tried going in with "full impulse" turned off. Far harder because there seems to be a "skid" effect in play meaning that if I tried to steer there was a massive lag between me pressing the button and anything happening leading to me holding it down for too long and turning to far which then led to overcompensation.

As trollish and stupid as it sounds engage full impulse and if it's too fast for you throttle down a bit. It all becomes much easier.

Also I noticed the glitch with the last gate. It's very odd and I've never seen it before. Must have been broken with the latest patch..

That's weird, I tried it several times last night, and most often it would tell me I'd failed in between gate 4 and 5, even though I'd made it through each one. Sometimes I would make it through all the gates, and have the beacon at the end of the course in sight, and then it would tell me I'd failed. I've been mouse steering, and I tend to go through at half impulse, and I've been sticking to the indicated path as closely as possible.

I think you have to meet some speed requirements, as my own half impulse attempt failed even sooner than the others.

It's a sling shot maneuver around a sun to go back in time, not a pleasant Sunday drive. Put the balls to the wall and the pedal to the metal!!

Did it on a Atrox first time, then failed first time with a Odyssey (that marked the only time I managed to failed it).

The "trick" is turn in anticipation for the next gate the moment you clear one.

Aren't we flying ships that run mostly on computer-guided flight paths anyway? Autopilot should be enabled for the FIRST run, none of this dithering around like the Defiant after Eddington's virus got through with it.

it's funny I managed the slingshot the very first time i played the mission and then never again. until the other night when i managed it on the 2nd attempt each time on the run through with two alts. just kept inside the blue line with small leftward adjustments.

No real need to do so, just go in with full impulse enabled and the "skid" doesn't come into play I.E. You will be able to fly normally.

It makes things so much easier.

I had screwed this up so many times and had to revert to autopilot; fortunately Bepi 113 is top secret stuff so no other captains were witness to my shame.

Two captains had to reach for the autpilot but recently on my third playthrough I pulled it off. I had flown an escort and a BoP previously while on captain three I was flying a cruiser. In my case I was oversteering with the more maneuverable craft.

On the bright side of all this failure the writer was kind enough to help me blame the conn officer rather than taking the heat myself.
