No science peeps backing this up? I was hoping to see some good advice and experiences from some vets. I never ran one of them, but I heard they got hit pretty hard w/the ever-so-famous hammer that is nerf.
"science vessels used to be fun"
It was fantastic how you could mess up an escort's alpha strike with SNB, or snare a BoP in a tractor beam to stop it from escaping. Best of all was the ability to come in against a zombiecruiser and strips its shields.
Now science vessels are no longer worth playing, it just takes too long to do anything.
Science ships are the ideal for many missions (anything against romulans , klingons or other cloaking enemies)
they are sleek , well protected and usually quite well armed

Um... No... Science Team is good Vs. Viral Matrix but here is a better idea... Do not get in the front Arc of that D'deridex... Cloaked NPC's do not generally exist when you are not close enough and the rest are incapable of being decloaked making the ability to detect them generally only useful in PvP and then only mildly so.
Science ships used to be a real blast to play when their E-War really worked well and they had a very obvious place in a fleet. It was not easy to use them correctly but if you did they were amazing ships. Now they are just slightly faster cruisers without the tank or healing power.
I wasn't here for the apparent golden age of sci and that's too bad as, in concept, these ships should be amazing. I actually ditched my tier 5 sci ship (for my science captain) and use the spare Tac Ody I got when I bought it for one of my other characters. FAR from ideal but at least it can do SOMETHING.
Were they so out of balance that they needed some nerfing? And is what's left really the best solution? As the owner of a sci character that came up under the new rules I am very interested in what people think about this.
