So the Voth are coming, should I be excited? Unfortunately I am not, not because I don't think they would be a good addition or have an interesting background but because it will be a supposedly tougher race to deal with that won't be. I get that Borg are supposed to be the ultimate bad guys in Star Trek but why don't the other supposed really tough other bad guys have any end game relevance? The Undine came close with Terradome but it was only a single mission that had many unresolved bugs and no rewards equal to the Borg Special Task Force (STF) missions and thus it was not played and sadly eliminated rather than fixed. Since then we have the Tholians and Elachi which have only continued this downward slide of supposedly introducing a menace that does not seem be relevant to continue fighting to the degree the Borg STF missions are. Sure there are some reputation missions for the Tholians but it pales in comparison to the Borg STF missions. The Borg STF missions are part of a story arc with eight pieces and after I complete the related Omega reputation system I am motivated to keep playing them for dilithium and the occasional good gear drop. The Tholians have no story arc equivalent and after the reputation and few associated pieces of gear the level of rewards do not compare to what I can achieve performing elite Borg STFs.
At the end of the day I would love for the Tholians, Elachi, and soon the Voth to have an equivalent Special Task Force story arc and mission set with normal and elite levels and rewards similar to the Borg STFs. I would love to log on and choose which menace I am going to fight and have each one require different tactics to complete. It would be nice if the tactics to defeat them were such that maybe I would decide it was better to use a cruiser or science vessel as opposed to escort vessel for a very explicit reason. I know you have said the upcoming content will focus more on end game content and I can only hope that this is a consideration.

The reason why the Borg aren't the ultimate enemy is simple: they're the only enemy that casual Star Trek enemies will recognize. That pretty much forced Cryptic to introduce them early.

That Voth episode was pretty interesting and I was disappointed that the show didn't continue their story. Glad to see STO continuing it.

The Voth are coming and bringing new mission content. That's reason enough to be excited.

How something is used can make them interesting. Heck, did anyone care about the Andorians before Shran came along?
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

I don't see where the Voth are supposed to be 'tougher'. I mean, really. . .just look at the Borg. They're relatively easy to kill, aside from the Tactical Cubes. And the Borg are the biggest, baddest bad guys out there.

Yeah, the Voth SHOULD be tough, because of their considerably more advanced technology. . .but that doesn't mean they will be. I expect to be blowing up Voth City Ships with 5 player teams.

To me, I'm not exactly excited but I'm also not disappointed as well. I'm interested with the Dyson's Sphere, but I'm really not anxious for the new grinds (especially the new Fleet Add-on).
NO to ARC!

Don't forget about a month after they enter the game there will be Voth Lockboxes with more power creep to go along with them.
