this question is of large concern as i am a big star trek fan, what happened to the rest of the locations on starships? last i checked every ship also had an observation lounge, cargo holds, a brig, crew quarters, shuttle bay, torpedo bay, nacelles. no captain should be vastly restricted on where he or she can go on their own ships, why be limited to just one crew deck, the bridge and main engineering? come on guys you gotta do better than this

I too personally would like to see expanded interiors as well, as many Star Trek episodes often feature shipboard situations besides the usual space and ground combat.

The main problem is that as far as Cryptic is concerned, improved ship interiors does little to enhance gameplay progression (other than housing some DOff contact locations), and so they prefer to divert their resources...elsewhere.

No doubt improved ship interiors (canon or otherwise) could make for excellent Foundry mission maps.

Ironically, I think most of TNG was filmed using less interior spaces than you can find on your ship :p

I think that's either due to set reuse / redress, or the fact that STO ship interiors are scaled too big.

At one time I heard mention of a shuttlebay being added, but that was a while ago. But the ammount of work the team would have to make proper interiors would be a massive task that would surely take away from new playable content. Each ship would need different architecture to match as well.

But I would LOVE for them to do that, because these ship maps we have in STO (more of the mission map interiors) are not very realistic. In fact its just a maze, so having architectually accurate interiors, to me, would be a plus.

Like the already completed Defiant and TOS Consitution interiors, I think they could creatively create accurate maps a little at a time, starting with the smaller ships and work their way up to the Galaxy, Sovereign, and Oddysey.

And some fans have actually mapped out the real interiors to a very nice degree that Cryptic can use to narrow the decks to a few and remain convincing.

In fact, I would LOVE to volunteer to help them pull it off. Because ship designs is just one of my favorite aspects of Star Trek.

i just feel like I'm a bit of a prisoner on my own ship being restricted to 3 locations, i understand it's a lot of work but it would be lovely to walk throughout your entire ship. i also agree with Azurian about this, they should start with the lieutenant ranked ships first and work their way up.

Well the annoying thing for me is apart from the bridge all ships have the same interior. I remember finding it highly stupid walking through those HUGE corridors with my science captain when he was flying in a tiny Nova class. At a minimum we need small (escorts etc) medium (science and smaller cruisers) and large (big cruisers, + Nebula class sci) version of the ship's interior.

They should make small sections of corridors and different size Blank Rooms that we could use the Foundry to create our own layouts...

They should have done this from the start...

Never mind making all the specific rooms.

At this point They should just make Generic Rooms, Generic Corridors for each time period and a few Add-on consoles...
(not all at once, just one or two a month)

As time goes by They can create new Specific Rooms to sell in the C-Store.

All the stuff They have at this point should just become free additions that can be used by anyone.

Start over with Customizable Assets and charge for them.

Fully customizable ship interiors are coming in the way of Foundry map construction. However, it is also highly dependent on tech they are making for their upcoming Neverwinter game. I wouldn't expect to see anything until Neverwinter is closer to release.
