**Warning, Oddy Rage Approaching***

The truth of the matter is, is that the Sci Oddy is a cruiser, not a sci ship. I mean it could make a decent sci ship with the 2 uni boff slots and the 5 sci console slots, but It will never match the performance of a true Sci ship either in sci abilities, or in turn rate or DPS quite frankly. To me the Oddy is best for tanks who who want a little variety to what they can do while tank/healing their teammates.

I recommend the Nebula. It's the same price as the LRSV Retro, and it has a much more useful ability.
I've decided to give the Nebula a try - I tried the Intrepid Retro in CSE but found myself using the Ablative Armor far too often and when couldn't use it was taken out by whatever was shooting at me in fairly short order.

Fancied something a little more 'durable' - haven't had a chance to use it yet, as work interfered (as it does) but have at least stuck my MACO shield, Borg Deflector, Borg Engine and Borg consle on it. Will work on the rest when get a chance to log in again.

lol not getting into the middle of the action in a carrier hmm. Maybe thats what im doing wrong parking my carrier right beside the mob and tanking it to death with my science officers. Gotta love being under 5km from a target to make best dps plus CC/healing myself and team. granting no torpedos on it but i do tank tac cubes without shield drones out and support too. /shrug

edit: i do have time in all 3 carriers but only this one on sci so far the other 2 are my engineer. Karfi i use like a heavy escort cause it has low hull. 40k+ hull plus shields = bring it on big boys ")

You see, I'm a Tac captain. That means a damage dealing character in a technowizardry ship that tanks and heals well (screw MMO trinity!). It is something very delightful with that adorable pancake flying around and BFAWing the whole pack of mobs, and not dying.

(Also, I'm a sucker for Galaxy-class variants...)
Gotta disagree, it's not screw MMO trinity.... its more like praise the trinity. Just get them all in one ship!

# 26 "Grimsey Build"
05-10-2012, 09:57 AM
It should be noted that Grimsey is a tactical officer. "The Blackmoor" is a Intrepid and perhaps one of the most versatile ships available. While most people go for the targeting subsystems I chose to turn this sci vessel into a TORPEDO boat.

Breen Set [+30 on Transphasic Damage]

Forward Weapons:
Mk XI [Blue] Harpeng Torpedo
Breen Cluster Bomb
Mk XI [Purple] Crit D X3 Transphasic Torpedo

Aft Weapons:
Mk XI [Blue Harpeng Torpedo or a Mk XI [Blue] Hybrid Plasma Disruptor Beam Array
Mk XI Rapid Relaod Transphasic Torpedo
Mk XII Transphasic Mines Crit D, Crit H, Acc [BORG}

Devices:
Red Matter Capacitor
Rechargable Battery
Sub-Space Field Modulator

Consoles:
Enhanced Plasma Manifold
Impulse Capicatance Cell
Mk XII [Purple] Countermeasures System
Anti-matter Spread
Mk XI [Blue}Field Generator +18% Capicaty to Shields
Theta Radiation Vent
Rule 62 Combat Multi Purpose Console [Ferengi] +11% to Mine And Torpedo Damage
[2] Mk XII {Purple} Transphasic Compressor +30

Crew: All 5 BO's are Efficient

2 Purple Doff- Conn Officer
2 Purple Doff- System Engineer
1 purple Doff- Technician

Now then some of you are wondering why 2 copies of the Harpeng. This is because the secondary explosion crushes pets near a carrier fed or klink. Using Photonic Officer and Tactical Initative and a DOFF ability I can get the Harpengs to fire virtually every 5 seconds. This ship allows me to Jam Sensors, fire Viral Matrix 3, use evasive manuvers to get in close PSW and CHB before torps arrive. Then once the torps hit I usually scramble sensors to take opponent's heals. Then I use the theta radiation console on them and tractor beam them in place and employ the Power Siphon ability of the Breen Set. By this time one of my team's escorts has noticed and comes in with a burst of DPS firepower to finish the opponent. This ship is just fast enough to move out of enemie's arc and able to stall opponents. One on one she can handle herself to make it at worst a draw or win out right albeit a long battle. Most people forget this IS a support ship and not a fronline fighter. Although with the right Bridge officer Skills this ship can tank fairly easy. This vessel is easily one one the most dasngerous ships out there.

Note: One variation is to use Anti-proton Beams with the Old Borg Set with the secondary tractor beam with the Assimilated Module repalcing the Anti Matter console.

Science ships are the worst ships since Cryptics nerf of consoles and Science abilities.

You my friend are quite behind the times. In the same patch the Kitty carrier came in, Cryptic unnerfed quite a few Sci abilities.

Their are problems with Science yes, but on the same note. You can make science ships do serious amounts of DPS, they can be built to be very tanky or built to be great healers. Can any other ship class in game do that?

They are also quite maneouverable with good inertia.

You say they are the worst? I say they are the best. I also gave a few reasons why.
