Not quote. As someone else mentioned that is Reactive Armor. Ablative Armor is armor that is designed to be vaporised in a controlled manner by incoming energy to protect say a spacecraft. The heat shield of the Apollo spacecraft was an example of Ablative armor.

Basiclly armor types work like this:
Standard Armor: Makes the target harder so its more difficult to damage
Reactive Armor: Neutralizes attacks with an equal but opposite force.
Ablative Armor: Absorbs the damage in a controlled manner.

Correct:

Therefore, I had imagined that Ablative Regenerative shields would be a shield that absorbs damage in a controlled method; while also regenerating after the initial abortion.

Comes with a special Science Console: Ablative Regenerative Shield Emitter

+18% Shield Capacity
+23 Starship Shield Emitters
10% chance when receiving all energy damage: Reduces all Energy Damage to Shields by 5%
That is why I put a resistance modifier on the shield, to simulate the fact that the shield could absorb the damage. However, perhaps it would be better to increase its absorption modifier +5% rather than reducing the damage to shields.

Ablative Regenerative or Ablative Resilient shields be better? I like this idea. But I hope it will not be a console which takes up a slot. Rather have it as a special ability.

Honestly I'd just be happy with some kind of refit. I hate knowing that my Sovereign isn't on par with the other end game cruisers.

I know everyone wants a new sovereign (including me) but do we really need it?

Isn't the new tac oddy supposed to take over the sovereigns role?
Wouldn't a +1 sovy just be a tac oddy only with less hull & crew?
Maybe a better turn rate, but is that enough to warrant making it?

I thin it would need to offer more. I like the ablative shields idea.

Perhaps a unique weapon is also needed here. (a rapid reload quantum torp or a special phaser array)

After all the tac oddy has the Aquarius.

Just saying

If it were just the Odyssey and the Galaxy-X, I'd be fine with the Sovereign not having a C-Store variant that takes all comers.

HOWEVER, there's the Excelsior Retrofit. Yes, it's a nice looking ship, but honestly I don't think it should be anywhere near as competitive as it is with the other tier-5 cruisers, particularly to the point where it's favored over the Sovereign and Galaxy-X Dreadnought as a tactical cruiser.

It seems that the ideas for the console are a touch over powered to me. Would a console that give torpedoes a 360 firing arc sound reasonable?

We sound like kids in a candy store
I still want a rapid reload quantum torp

Or voyagers high yield transphasic torp (for Borg)

Meh, a sovereign refit will never exist to me unless it has a CORBOMITE REFLECTOR. :p
