Here is something that should be considered:
I make a mission, get 2 five stars, then republish the mission uncompletable. Or maybe I take out the entry point alltogether. That mission will be top dog mission forever because it is impossible to complete it thus rate it.

But you as a foundry author know that would be pointless, what possible satisfaction could any authentic author gain from having a top mission with only two 5-stars for an infinite time. It would be no real benefit. True, it could be done theoretically, but what would be the point?
You have good missions Pendra and I doubt you would be satisfied with having 2 plays on one of yours, even if it meant holding the proverbial top spot forever.

Do you remember the bug which froze the mission ranking on the main list? A pretty bad mission with 1 single 5 stars stuck at the top when the bug appeared. That mission got like 40 playthrough in around 2 days.
What if that mission was just half decent? Being higher on the list (especially if the search is completely broken) means more playthrough, there is no way around that.
All in all, the main problem is the ability to freeze your score by making your mission unrateable. That has to be considered. Maybe you need to factor in drop out rate, too.
Is it really a problem with people just rating things badly for the sake of it? Correct me if I'm wrong, but i do not think so.
Honestly the rating on a mission doesn't effect my decision to play or not.. I read the reviews, the summary and decide from there.
Ive been trying out many many missions as of late, and TOO MANY do not tell you where to start!!!!!!!!!.. These people NEED a 1 star rating to wake them up to fix their mission. I always comment that I will re-try when fixed and re-rate.
And some are just are unable to complete,.. or twist off into something I do not like. And I would like to give it a cruddy rating without finishing sometimes. ( but not if I just do not personally like it )
First... Yes. Recently there has been a spate of griefers sabotaging the ratings of missions. Especially new missions where a few bad scores can really bury a mission.
Second, You are an exception, not the rule. Most players rely heavily on ratings to decide which missions to play.
Finally, if you don't see the mission you're not going to play it. Rankings determine the position in the list, so even if you're not looking at rankings, they are still deciding which mission descriptions you are seeing indirectly.
I totally agree that some kind of ranking system needs to be kept in place, but I also agree that the current system is broken.

If a mission CAN'T be completed it can be reported and removed. Problem averted.
