I tried a fleet escort with a conventional front end and the back with mines, breen torpedo and a Tricobalt device.

It didn't work as intended too. The fireworks were awesome, the mine dispersal pattern didn't interfere with torpedo reload times so everything could be fired more or less at once, but the damage dealt wasn't worth it.

I went back to the hybrid beam and cannon mixed loadout I favour most of the time and that actually creates much more damage on target thanks to cycling between cannon rapid fire and beam overloads. Sometimes keeping it simple makes it better.

Now, this is a build that's meant for multi-role skirmishing and excels in a variety of situations, targets front or rear.

If you loaded it full of turrets and dual heavy cannons and supported them with multiple attack patterns omega and/or beta, this is how you get extreme single-target frontal arc DPS.
