the room heights on board federation ships are way out of proportions,,it looks impresssive but it ruins the "spaceship feeling" when theres same room height , as on space stations
example: mess hall,,you could have 2 or 3 decks in that room instead of taking a ballroom with on a warship ,,captains quarters are also way too high,,they would only be suitable for flagships..not for the smaller vessels,,klingon ships are more "realistic"

They always have been. There are technical limitations involving the camera that require the high ceilings. Is it really that big of a deal?

It breaks the immersion but it is understandable that the issue is not a easy fix.
This problem has to do with the game engine it self. Unless they are doing an overhaul of the entire game engine, they wouldn't do anything about the interior scale.

Have anyone play Sword of the New World (Granado Espada)? It is an Korean MMO and their engines allows for what ever walls the camera is being clipped into to fade away. So the player can view their characters from outside of what ever interior environment as if there are no fourth wall, like a TV set.
If STO can implement this kind of mechanism into the game engine, then the over sized interior can be fixed.
