# 1 sad little science admiral

I'm not crying about the science class but I'm really at a loss. I made low admiral but looking at the ships availible I think I got spoiled as a Captain when I purchased the tier 4 refit. Looking at the stats and hulls I don't know which ship would be the most enjoyable to play. While the deep space vessel looks about right on paper I can't get it out of my head that the thing looks like a skidoo.

What choices have other science players made when they made low admiral and why did you go the way you did?

They're almost the same. The differences add up to the RSV having a bit more firepower, and the DSSV being a bit tougher. But yeah the DSSV is certainly funny looking isn't it?

I took a Recon Science Vessel and specced her as a fast and powerful light strike cruiser.

Spec out full flow capacitors, install OMEGA 2-pc set for the Tetryon Riders and stick on a pair of dual beam banks on the front. I used the Jem'Hadar engine for enhanced maneuverability and bonus power to polaron weapons and Omega deflector and shields.

With 3 tactical boff powers what I did was use torpedo spread and torpedo hi yield alternately. The ship turns so fast you can hi yield the front and disable things with your dual beams, then swing around and torpedo spread out of the rear.

When I bought the RSV I was getting annoyed with the low turnrate of my previous Galaxy class and the near-escort levels of maneuverability satisfied me perfectly. Omega shields also give a neat 'afterburner' effect when the enemy fires at it making this attack/recon ship awesome levels of speed in combat.

Her role is to be the first into battle, spam area control and disablement science abilities (remember to spec your Captain skills accordingly), strip shields for the team (with Phased Polaron beam arrays on the rear, Tetryon Rider & Tachyon Beam combined for max overkill) and then torpedo everything to oblivion. When the enemy fires back I can buff shields, let the Omega afterburner do its thing and just plain dictate the fight using range, speed and agility like a fighter plane.

WIth the right duty officer support mix she spams torpedoes faster than popups on NSFW websites and remember gravwell plus torpedo spread and beam fire at will = pure 100% Pwnage. This ship can fire so many torpedo spreads that with chronitron torps she can singlehandedly debuff and disable entire task forces on the Mirror Event map with ease especially with constant gravwell spam and such.

So that's my still-classified Attack Science Vessel build above, for fast attack pilots who want something with more out of the box capabilities and just as fast, achieving space dominance not by DPS but by massive dosage of debuffs, space control skills and other stuff most people overlook

When I hit RAdm LH I was using the D'Kyr, before switching back and forth between it and the Nebula. I enjoy both.

Currently I'm flying the Oddy, because it's shiny.

I like flying canon ships, so I would chose the Nebula, although you will have to pay for it.

The secondary hull hanging from the bottom of the DSSV can be dropped in the ship tailor if you don't like it. I prefer it to the Recon vessel myself. But I'm saving up dilithium for the Vulcan ship.

Oh, I forgot about that one. I bought it during the last sale (now I own all the T-5 fed ships minus the carrier) and have not flown it.

in my opinion the torpedo boat / drain built for sci vessels works best at the moment. But i fly an escort with my sci, and love it. use the Advanced escort, with the Multy vector console on it.
Sure it can't deliver very hard alpha strikes like a tactical in an escort, but it's still not bad with the Omega 3+ 10% from the battery doff+rapid fire does very, very, very well in elite stf's

A sci ship itself, even with maxed out abilities, is certainly fun to play but not really competitive (except the torpedo built)
You will allways have a hard time killing stuff with only sci abilities. and there are only 2 heal abilities, not enough to be a tank. (nebula is an exception, very nice ship actually for support and tank role)

if you want to be a supporter, play cruiser. If you want to be a DD, play escort or the torpedo sci built.

It depends on your thing really. I used to use either an intrepid retro or a RSV, now I'm using a carrier.
