(22nd century) Intrepid-Class United Earth Starfleet Starship

I Saw This Ship And It Made Me Say Wow It Played A Big Role In Helping Form Or Beloved Federation Please help support this ship, lets give the NX Class Replica A Side Kick

The Intrepid-class entered service during the 2140s and was the most powerful starship fielded by United Earth until the commissioning of the NX class. With the success of the Warp 5 drive on the NX-class the Intrepids were refitted with these new drives greatly improving their speed and range, though they were unable to maintain the high warp speeds as long as the newer NX class. Other improvements that were tested on the NX would also appear in the Intrepids, such as weapons and sensors.

Easier and faster to build than the larger and more capable NX many were built leading up to and during the Earth-Romulan War.

Following the formation of the United Federation of Planets in 2161 most of the Intrepids were assigned to the new Federation Starfleet. (Star Trek: Swiftfire: "The Only Thing Necessary") While the class proved unsuitable for upgrades to the newer warp 7 drives they continued to service in the fledging Federation as patrol ships along the newly formed Romulan Neutral Zone and in general system patrol and colony defence roles.

In 2153, the Intrepid and two other starships came to the rescue of the Enterprise when it was attacked by a Klingon Bird-of-Prey as it entered the Sol system. (ENT novelization: The Expanse)

In 2154, the Intrepid was part of a fleet of starships that welcomed back the Enterprise to Earth following its successful mission in the Delphic Expanse. (ENT episode: "Storm Front")

In 2156, the Intrepid was part of a war game in which a shuttlepod from the Enterprise penetrated the warp detection grid in the Sol system, displaying the weakness which had been exploited by the Romulans in other systems. The Intrepid was also part of the Earth Starfleet armada that retook Berengaria VII from the Romulan Star Empire. (ENT - The Romulan War novel: Beneath the Raptor's Wing)

In an alternate timeline where Earth was successfully destroyed by the Xindi's superweapon, the Intrepid was one of the few Starfleet vessels to survive the attack and subsequent Xindi attempts to wipe out the rest of humanity. Along with the Enterprise and one other Starfleet ship the Intrepid escorted the last surviving six-thousand Humans to the Ceti Alpha system and patrolled the system once the survivors' colony had arrived.

In 2165, Captain Malcolm Reed was due to replace Ramirez as commander of the Intrepid, but was killed while aboard the Enterprise when the Xindi attacked. The Intrepid was also involved the battle, and was severely damaged, her port nacelle severed. (ENT episode: "Twilight")

So there's an Intrepid class (like Voyager) and an Intrepid type.

That's not confusing at all.

I actually think there's something to this. I'm not sure much from the Enterprise series will fit in too well in a game set in the early 25th century, but I actually am interested in some of these "early" designs. And of course I'm eagerly awaiting the Andorian battle cruiser, which I've heard is coming. My personal request from the ENT series? The Xindi-Aquatic cruiser: it would make an excellent carrier, perhaps a battle carrier (though I imagine it probably doesn't maneuver any better than the Caitian carrier, but somehow I suspect it's not QUITE as large).

We would need coal as a currency. Just joking! I would like to see some older ships like the earth sleeper ship.

I would like to see these and other old ships as NPC ships in time traveling missions or make them available for foundry. Making them ownable would make sense.
Maybe let you fly them around in a holodeck simulation or visit them in the mothball (museum) fleet.

ED: I meant to say making them ownable wouldn't make sense.

It's the 25th century enough of these old ships!

Well people still collect cars from the 19th Century and display them proudly and that was two Centuries ago. Mall parking lots are filled with old cars from collectors and people interested in nostalgia. McCoy gave Kirk a pair of antique glasses for his birthday so nostalgia is cannon

I would not want to take the designers away from creating new content but if they are creating them for a storyline for FEs then I think it would be great to make them available.

I would also not suggest PvPing against one of your Fleet with an older ship but It is cool to parade around with something sentimental to the Captain from time to time. I also like the challenge of redoing missions with a TOS Connie or shuttle to change it up a little bit!

To my knowledge CBS or Cryptic, one or the other, doesn't want a bunch of ancient ships flying around in STO, which is why there will never be an NX-01 tier4/5 or a Connie tier 4/5 in the game, they're simply too old.

I underlined the word.

Yes, many of them are still in a drivable condition but they are also ridiculous expensive to maintain since any part have to be handmade (well unsurprising since even when those cars were new they were handmade) and there is the fact they are even close to the security that modern cars provide.

That leads me to the question, as people collect cars they are not using then for everyday life ... the US Navy still have the USS Constitution on active duty but they are not going to send it to patrol the Somali coast.

The reason I am bring this up is because old ships are simply well past their days, the Excelsior in the game is a anachronism and a exception rather that a rule, adding a Pre-Federation ship would be continuing to add to the flying museum that is STO.
