Hoping this message will help to make changes. So is everyone enjoying the last couple days of all the Cat Carriers all over the Elite Space STFs and how they keep failing the Optional so no one gets it because they think they can be a Tank and they go boom, or DPS Probes and let them go right on by because they cant kill them fast enough. My friends, fleet mates and I have all had enough. Looks like Elite Ground STFs will be getting busy since Elite Space part is a right off. Please owners of Cat Carriers, learn to use your ship properly. You are support science ship, not a tanking cruiser or a dps escort, learn your role.
no they have not give us time to learn ship I know how to use carrier but once everyone learns how to use them they will make them better
you know can get around respawn timer by moving out of way send in fighters
The last Elite STf I've done had at least two of the new carriers and they did rather well. Admittingly I wasn't on the top of my game (I died only once), but i don't remember any of the Kitty carriers blowing up more times than I did. And we managed to get the optionals too. Two Cat carriers, my Bortas, a Sovvy, and I think either a Science Vessel or an Escort.
You might think of this small snippet as me dodging the bullet though or being very lucky.
I've had the same experiences as Clift when flying both My Cat Carrier and my Defiant. Just becuase they're failing the optional doesn't mean that EVERYONE flying a Cat Carrier will fail some people adjust slower than others and some people just dont adjust at all.
Yes it's designed to be a Support Vessel but you're comment on DPS is wrong especially if the Carrier is correctly fitted out. I've easily taken out the set of probes an taken most of the spheres down while most Escorts and Cruisers deal with the gates/cubes.
I'm sorry that you've had bad experiences with people flying that Carrier but don't assume they're all going to turn out as such.
They are not that bad. They can be on probe duty with no problem at all. If you have a good setup, they can take out the probes with no problems. They may not do much dps, but with the right hangar pets, it should not matter. It also depends on the setup.
to mirror cliftona91's experience most cat carriers I've been seeing have been doing quite well in STF's while sure they aren't as up to par with their carriers as those who've been running KDF carriers for a while, they seem to be quick studies. You'll likely see less of this as they get more time with the carriers and get used to the mechanics.
