Cryptic makes the game more about the equipment you have rather than the personal skills, tactics, etc... While you can still compete with older equipment due to your skills and tactics being more advanced than your opponent's, you are at a disadvantage when your opponent reaches/meets your level of tactics and skills, then their newer equipment will be the advantage... uggh.. nothing I hate more in this game than having to go get the newest tweaked power, console, or whatever. The STF sets have literally ****ed me off due to all of the grinding necessary.. I'd rather buy them in the cstore than spend one more moment doing an STF. Cryptic's new motto should be "we code for quantity" due to the thousands of STF grinds I have completed and I am 1 piece away from having both complete sets!... then.. oh yeah.. on to the other toon. My god, Cryptic!!!!!!
Well even when the Special sets did not exist the Rarity/Mark of ones equipment still gave a little buff to PvP playability but not such a difference that a Player with mainly Blues and Greens could not compete against a player using mainly Blues and Purples.
The sets while cool and fun broke that capability to a certain extent and now a player must grind to achieve the new sets or possibly be at a disadvantage in PvP. It does make one play the PVE aspect of the game though..........

The coach would receive a mail notification saying, "noobie Lt.Cmdr X has been assigned to your training squadron," and noobie would receive a message saying, "Report to Leet Gamer for Battle Readiness Training." The two could then communicate with one another about the important aspects of combat then enter three queues to complete Noobie's quest. Leet Gamer would have to train 4 noobies this way to receive his mission completion reward, whether he plays with them simultaneously or one at a time.

This way, at each level of advancement, a player has access to someone who can help him understand complex issues involved in PvP but can learn these concepts one at a time and practice the skills between ranks, instead of having to learn them all at once and become proficient within hours of reaching level 50.

The rewards for trainers could be EC, Dil, Salvage, etc. My preferred reward would be special BOffs which could only be achieved this way with skills and passives appropriate to PvP. So, a Ground PvP trainer may get a unique BOff with a unique Ground Passive, and a Space PvP trainer would get a Space Passive BOff. This would encourage everyone to drop down as trainers, but would prevent 'farming' the mission.

And if every player trains four players, the math goes wild really fast. At some point, high level players will begin to compete to be able to train a noob because there will be more trainers than noobs, and more noobs entering level 50 PvP prepared to learn from the masters.
What if the coach doesn't want to coach?
How do you determine who is a leet player to be a coach?

It's just not only coaching. It's all about experience. You are the player, you have to decide when and which Boff or Char power you use in that one moment. No coach can tell you now use this or now use that. Everybody has a different playstyle and some other rotation of the powers.
Coaching might be not bad, but thats just for the basics. The rest is up to you to get the experience.

Just a note, I wont coach anyone.
- I'm not a skilled or real experienced player
- I dont know how to coach anyone, because i did it never before.
- English is not my native language and it takes long for me to translate.

Both of the above are good posts. But I'm offering an alternative to dumbing down top level play by smartening up low level play. I'm open to ideas on how to do that, because I'd seriously hate to see top tier gameplay dumbed down for the noob.

As for who is leet, it only requires someone with the basics, so if you want to coach you should have participated in something like 1000 matches, (just a number thrown out there, actual results may vary,) and have a bullet points syllabus so you know to cover shield distribution and skill point allocation for the Lt.Cmdr, BOff abilities for the Cmdr, and DOff effects for Captains. If the trainee is unhappy with his coach he can opt to request another coach.

As for other native language speakers: bonus! There are players with that language who also need coaching, so putting in your coaching application that you speak a language other than English might make you more desirable.

I'm not asking that anyone teach masters courses in PvP. That's what the top tier gameplay does. I'm suggesting that if there was a way to get the information to the player earlier, the transition from PvE to PvP would be much easier at level 50, and players would be able to integrate what they learned in the roflstomping they just received instead of sitting there in a state of shock asking, "What happened?"

Wanna bet? This is exactly how I used to train new guys in my fleet. I'd bring them into a private challenge and someone much more experienced. I'd let them get trounced a couple times, and then I'd click on their ship, and walk them through when to activate their powers, activating them myself as I go so I could monitor the timers more easily.

It worked flawlessly every time and by the end of the sessions, they'd be at least as good as the guy I'd bring in for them to fight.
