Im just wondering. mainly curiousity really. if any of the "captain" stage ships could hold there own in stf, such as the tactical escort etc

Also. the same aspect for PVP

Terrible, to the point of being considered trolling. You lack 1-2 weapons and a whole bunch of consoles. And skill slots. And then we get into low HP counts...

Basically: Don't try it.

You have not done a Elite STF were a guy show up in shuttle yet?

if you can get a group of like minded players to group up and do it for the challenge - go for it. but unless you like reading curses or spamming your ignore button I wouldnt recommend it in a pug queue

ah ok, i was mostly curious because ive come across a phew tac escorts and Intrepids in STFs and PVP quite often and i was wondering why, like can they just not afford a new ship or are the ships viable

Actually they're probably flying the VA refit of those captain ships. Cloaking Defiant, Saucer Sep Galaxy, and Ablative Intrepid.

Like has been said, they're probably using the Retrofits... and Captain ships are technically Tier 4, not Tier 3.

T1 is En/Lt, T2 is Lt. Cmdr, T3 is Cmdr, T4 is Capt, and T5 is Admiral (the VA ships are approximately equivalent, thought the Bortasqu' and the Odyssey are significantly tougher frames than the other T5 ships). Using T3 ships would be trolling... and the Adv. Heavy Cruiser would probably be the "best" one to do it with, since people wouldn't necessarily spot the difference between it and the T5 version right away.

Sometimes I am using the first Galaxy-Class you can get (is this one T3 or T4? Can't remember at the moment...) in STF Normal - I've never heard any complaints but it's harder to do since you are lacking the weapon slots and the consoles. In my opinion: if you have a ship that's T4 and you really love that vessel: roll with it as long it's working. Upgrade it with Mk XI+ weapons, shields and consoles, though. Some people will go OMG here because all they care about is getting the best of the best, but there are still other players out there who still play the game as an MMORPG and not as "MMODPS".

Edit: The Captain-rank Galaxy class is actually T4, so maybe a T3 in STF would really be a bit too tricky.

If you have a good premade, you could do it in shuttles depending on the stf. I do not recommend trying anything lower than a t4 in pugs, as you would be deliberately griefing other players.

Most people seeing a Galaxy in an STF will assume it's the VA refit.

The reason people get upset about people bringing low tier ships into Elites is because your holding back the team, you are saying that your enjoyment is worth more than four other peoples enjoyment. It is basically a selfish attitude. And it is a Selfish attitude that people defend under the banner of I can play how I want.

MMORPG = Massive "Multiplayer" Online Role Playing Game.

The Multiplayer part means you really should consider others. Also they banned Shuttles from STF and are working to ban low tier ships.
