Guys why is it their it ruins the game play especially when you still have the 1 shot overpowered killer cubes and klingon assimlated ships it doesnt add an new dimesansion to the game its just annoying and servers no purpose bu to annoy game players get rid of it or your going to get rid of alot of players

I agree, in Elites it might be a little rough, but I jump into normals all the time and find in a good group I don't have to worry about the timer. What sort of ship are you commanding?

no cube can oneshot a good tank...escorts yes, and the respawn time is there to make dying a penalty. If you die more than 3 times in an elite stf or even a normal stf you really need to improve your ship/skill...everything.

So the respawn time increase is only there to make surviving a more reasonable goal. and give tanks that get the aggro and survive a cube/gate pounding on them an excuse to even exist in stf's.
Sadly that bit of information didn't reach most of the cruiser captains up to now.

if you search for posts by Gozer on this subject, I am sure that he will have explained the reasoning. As i recall it was to encourage a more intelligent play style in stfs - i.e you can't always go in all guns blazing get blowed up and almost immediately be back in the fight (relatively speaking) and rinse repeat until end.

count yourself lucky - in other games which have this, you often also lose experience (or skill points in this game) on death.

While I don't like the respawn timer, I totally understand why we have it.

The current space STFs, with their objectives and playstyle are far easier to do the more escorts you have in the team. Your adverage escort can destory, turn round and reach the next objective before your adverage cruiser can get close. The best STF Elite times i've logged were with 5 escorts on the team. I'm not bashing cruiser flyers, it's just the way it is.

The timer evens the playing field slightly. If you dont want to be blown up so much, bring some cruisers and sci ships with you to keep you healed. If you dont then the chances of you being killed and having to put up with the timer will just get worse.

Of course, the other team just needs to roll 4-5 escorts and wipeout anything you come across to pretty much negate the chance of dying and timer.

The problem is how are you supposed to deal with the massivly overpowered plasma torpedos the fact they can wipe an escort out each time makes them unfair.
Also targeting them dosnt always work.
i have 2 copies of scatter volly for stfs so any tips about ressisting a torpedo that does 127K critical damge please let me know

I use Brace for Impact, Tactical Team, Subspace Field Modulator and Evasive Maneuvers, with high capacity shields.

in an escort i never managed to survive one...i mostly run from them, and have my turrets fire until its gone...which takes some time
on my cruiser however it really isnt that hard to outtank those torpedos.

It was supposed to be a trade off for a minuscule bump to the drop rate of elite gear. I don't think it was an equal trade.
