Assuming that you are serious here, Lobi crystals are a rare currency that you can get from lockboxes or occasionally find hidden in missions (e.g. all of the current F.E. replay missions each have a hidden crystal that you can find). They can be used to purchase items in the Lobi Crystal Consortium store on Drozana station. A few of the items, such as the special ship devices, the energy whip, and the Ferengi shuttle, are quite nice to have (though the shuttle costs a LOT). Most of the other items are just vanity stuff, like the voiced edition of the Rules of Acquisition, or costume pieces.

The guys from Cryptic have said that they intend to introduce new items to the Lobi Crystal store every now and then, and so in this thread we are speculating on what sort of new items they might have.

Anyone know whats the average Lobi crystal count per opened drop box ? I'd hate to buy enough keys to open 100 drop boxes to get enough crystals to buy that snazzy Ferengi traders jacket.

The clothing items should NOT be in the lobi store. Costumes help to define a player/character, they should be in the cstore for a set price. As it is now a lobi costume could cost you hundreds of dollars if you're unlucky (like most) with the quantity of lobi gotten from the lockboxes (which I will NEVER purchase). Yes, lobi can be gotten in-game, so you can get the costume set from grinding - enjoy that costume you finally earn in 2014.

You know... If I'm right that Lobi is primarily a way to avoid burnout for high spenders (ie. if you spend $500 to get a D'Kora and don't get one, the Lobi are a consolation prize) then other methods of earning Lobi wouldn't be out of the question if they're difficult and might actually INCREASE their perception of value for lockbox buyers.

I mean, ******** is smart about mounts. Some take a few days of grinding to earn. That's WHY people consider a cool looking mount worth $25. Because the value can be gauged against an activity.

If they, say, had Lobi bundles as rewards for Duty Officer Commendation categories promotions, that would make sense. For example, "Trading" could get you up to 100 Lobi. (Y'know, 5, 20, 25, 50 at each tier increase.)

Likewise, maybe they could tie it to STFs as something you could trade, say, 25 EDC for 25 Lobi. The bar there is set high enough that you have to grind for some. (Ie. You DON'T sell 1 for 1. You only sell in bundles of 25.) The reward is high enough to maybe justify it while also making Lockboxes the more convenient route for big spenders.

If the clothing were accountwide and available for KDF, I think it would be better. There's so little incentive to maintain alts, I see little sense in penalizing someone for having alts by making high dollar stuff NOT accountwide.

I'd be tempted to say the same for the ships or at least make the special consoles/weapons on lockbox ships (and maybe the bridges) an account unlock bonus when you claim the ship.

That way, the ship stays rare but the extra perks of the ships can be claimed on alts if not the actual ships.

Hilarious quote is Hilarious, I got that sexy female outfit (the shiny one) for less than 20 million EC's off the exchange, not bad for a weeks worth of grinding... :p

As much as I dislike WOW, it has been around for a good 9-10 years now? Which makes it positively ancient in MMO terms. There's a lot of lessons that it can teach. Especially to a fledgling like STO. The Lobi Idea is a nice one, and is a good reason to continue making STFs and would likely encourage people to buy lock boxes because of the in game rewards cutting some of the costs.
