Kittinger made a 102,800 feet drop, Baumgartener is attempting 120,000 feet.
read the Atricle.
"Baumgartner has been preparing with retired Air Force Col. Joe Kittinger, who set the current world record back in 1960 when he made a 102,000-foot jump"
Col. Joe wants his record broken.

I think Kyuii is trying to explain to you that a 102,000 ft jump is already a "space jump", and this jump is "just" a bit higher. It will be a new record, but technically, someone already made a space jump.
