Hey Guys, I just wanted to get your opinion on these two layouts. I fly the Defiant-R, and do mostly PvP, some elite STF's, and very little PvE. These are strictly Tac abilities. Thanks!

Fore Weapons:
2 Phaser Dual Heavy Cannons Mk XI [Acc]x3
1 Quantum Torpedo Mk XI [Acc]x3
1 Phaser Dual Beam Bank Mk XI [Acc]x3

Aft Weapons:
3 Phaser turrets Mk XI [Acc]x3

Boff Abilities:
Ens: TT 1 (With Doff that reduces cool-down)
Lt Cmd: BO 1, CRF 1, CRF 2.
Cmd: THY 1, THY 2, BO 3, APO 3.

Verses:

Fore Weapons:
2 Phaser Dual Heavy Cannons Mk XI [Acc]x3
1 Phaser Dual Heavy Cannon Mk XI [Acc]x2 (Working towards [Acc]x3, but It might take awhile)
1 Phaser Dual Beam Bank Mk XI [Acc]x3

Aft Weapons:
3 Phaser turrets Mk XI [Acc]x3

Boff Abilities:
Ens: TT 1
Lt Cmd: BO 1, CRF 1, APO 1.
Cmd: TT 1, APB 1, BO 3, CRF 3.

Both builds use 4 Phaser Relay's Mk XI rare.

You've definitely got the space to run two Tac Teams, I think you would be better off running two, and using the DOFFs to buff other things.

And I think the second would yield more consistent damage than the first but using torps can catch people off guard when you stop firing into the RSP and switch to torpedoes.

As someone who does a fair bit of escort pvp, I'd suggest that you'd be best off ditching the dual beam bank completely, and picking up a second copy of APO1 for additional maneuverability boost & tractor resist. Yes, an all-cannon layout does waste the ensign slot, which is why I don't fly my Defiant anymore in pvp.

Two tac teams is a must by the way.

I would recommend against Beam Overload 1. Coupled with the power drain incurred, it's not that effective as a damage buff. I'd recommend something like HYT1 or Beam Target Subsystem: Engines there. (I say Engines because even if you don't disable anything, the enemy will get slower, thus lose defense).

I would probably also decide to focus on either Beam Overload III with a DBB or High YIeld Torpedoes with Quantum Torpedoes, and not mix both. Your spike advantage is not that big to be worth the loss of steady DPS. That would be the second build then.
