I'm thinking of being creative with this and doin a x3 DBB x1 Torp and x3 BA build. I want to keep this ship looking sexy and to me it just wouldn't look elegant it throwing out cannon fire. Might do a x2 turret x1 BA, but still going beams.

Probably going to go BO over FAW to keep from aggro, and all my weapons are [Acc]x2[Crtd] so hopefully not that many misses.

I'll also probably throw in that AtSIF, or try somethin with a RSP.

I know I won't be a damage king like I am in my defiant, but screw it, I'd rather have fun and sexiness going in a more Canon style using beams in this baby

Love the designs and can't wait! I skipped the cat carrier due to not knowing much about carrier tactics, but this will make a good introduction to carrier combat.

I plan on using 3 tac (phaser) consoles, the phaser based pin point defense system from the thunderchild, torp spam console, and photon tac console (XII purple)

Weapons: DBB, quad cannon or dual heavy cannons (it can take canons right?) and either turrets or beams in the back
And at least one photon torp front or back

I am really liking the layout I will drop my MVE layout right on it for STF's

TT1,CSV1,TS3,APO3
TT1,CRF1
HYT1

Yes I like to have a balance between mob attacks and single target attacks especialy for Cure and Infected
The only difference will be at Engineering which I am drooling about having another hull heal. I'll probably go with this setup with Eng and Sci.

EPTS1,EPTS2,ET3
TSS1,HZE2

As for weapons

Fore
3 Purple MK XII Borg AP DHC's
1 MK XII Photon Torpedo ( this will be put in instead of my current quantum with a Photon Tact Console )

AFT
3 MK XII Borg AP turrets

I also have 6 MK XII Borg Beam Arrays I could use if I want to run a BFAW beam boat

I will miss the LTC sci station with Gravity well though

Bull.

A 15 maneuverability and fighters will put this above most escorts and probably the atrox too. Even the Kar'Fi can't dance or shoot like this ship. Sure you loose 10K hull points, but that's manageable. I don't want to say for sure this thing is OP, but I fear it will be.

It's an escort, not a full-blown carrier, and you want to compare it to the Kar'fi?

Show me a T5 Fed escort that doesn't have 15 turn rate.

I know for a fact the Defiant has a base 17.

I'm planning to have 2 photons (2 consoles, 2 projectile doffs), 2 polaron DHCs + 3 turrets, and the full Jem'hadar space set which was designed to boost lower weapon power settings. I'd run with 50/25/25/100, which with passive bonuses be 100/58/53/113. The dual photons will capitalize on the doffs and the lower weapon power available, and I'm still churning out peregrine fighters at competitive rates.

Going to need 2 projectile doffs, 2 TT conn doffs, and the flight deck doff to support this build.

As for boffs:

TT1, APB1, CRF2, CSV3
HYT1, APB1
HYT1
HE1, TSS2
EPtS1, EPtS2, Aux2SIF2 OR EPtW1, EPtW2, EWP1; replace with RSP1 as needed.

Fighters: Peregrine, but Stalkers are the best as they drain shields while providing good fire strength. However, I have no Atrox, so Peregrines it is.

Consoles:

Tac - 2 x photon, 2 x polaron
Sci - Generator, Field Emitter
Eng - Assimilated, Photon PDS, Neutronium

For my playstyle, this is arguably the most perfect ship in STO to exist. Does that count as OP? Probably. But this ship forces you to choose between higher level cannon skills or APO, so there's still a downside.

Both ships still give up upper tier tac options.

I'm not saying that's bad, or that the trade off is bad.

I'm saying that i don't think this ship is overpowered, this is just the same stuff that gets posted everytime there is a new ship.

I mean, people are actually saying this ship outclasses other escorts, makes the Atrox obsolete - seriously?

Well, the Fleet Escort is an RA Dilithium ship, so the Akira was destined to outclass it.

The only thing I'm surprised about is that it took this long for this BOFF layout to make it into the game as this follows the same AE > MVAE type of progression, only with an Engineering slant.

Aux to SIF 2 is good, I wouldn't say it isn't, some numbers:

Aux to SIF @ 125 Aux

1: +4,709 Hull & +33 Res
2: +6,279 (approx 33% improvement) & +44 Res
3: +7,849 (approx 25% improvement) & +55 Res

So you were right, as we can see the biggest improvement is going from 1 to 2.

It's still on par with say, the MVAE, going from TSS 2 to 3.

In all the times I've seen all beam escorts on elite stfs, I've never seen much appreciable advantage to it and it's a shame to waste a base 15 turn rate on beam arrays.

The Kar'Fi is a full-blown carrier and not an Escort. So why then does this Escort have only 1500 hull less than a full-blown carrier? It is an Escort.

Actually, the difference is 4,500.

I'm looking at it right now:

Kar'fi: 34,500
Escort Carrier: 30,000

(Yes, the initial HP stated on the Akira-Refit was a typo, and Gozer acknowledged it as such.)

For the record: The MVAM is also 30,000. As is the Defiant-R.

So again, why are you comparing it to a full-blown carrier?

The Armitage 4500 less hull, not 1500 less, and the Karfi can do a whole lot of science and a has second hangar to boot. The Armitage has a hangar which spits out pets for extra firepower, as opposed to the MVAE which splits into pets for extra firepower. The Armitage's pets will definately be more versatile than the MVAE modules and have a much shorter cooldown, but is that enough of a difference to turn 'balanced' into 'OMFG game breaker!' ?

C'mon, lets just enjoy the fact that finally there is a distinctive VA escort that isn't just a restat of an existing ship, and she's pretty, and we'll never have to read another 'I want a T5 Akira' thread again.
