Yup. It would seem that Escort Carrier does not qualify for any space STF.

I often make fun of Cryptic for breaking two things when trying to fix one, but this... I'm sorry, but I'm just gonna call this a big fail...

Submit a ticket - it could be a bug, and I'm sure the Dev's didn't say that it wouldn't be usable in STF's.

Almost certainly a bug.
Which means you might have to wait a whole day for them to fix it, oh noes.
