Just wondering, but how many of you actually call the Armitage class the ARMITAGE class?
Speaking strictly semantics here, the new carrier escort that the Akira class was originally conceptualized as is NOT the Akira. The Akira in this game is, and may very well forever remain, as a T3 escort with no special features.
The Armitage class was designed with a similar physical appearance, but it isn't the same. It is still technically Its own ship design, so I think it should only be appropriate that people forget about the Akira and embrace the Armitage as the superior version of the ship that everyone wanted.
I'm going to throw the Akira skin on it when I get it. I just wish they would unlock the Mat 6 for it.
Yup, totally aggree, when I saw the ship class name my first thought was 'Toilet class', it's not just the UK either, Armitage export all over Europe (my toilet here in Denmark is by Armitage, lol) :-P
It's an anime reference. Akira the anime had similar ideas to Armitage III.
Eh, they were both cyberpunk-genre anime, but that's about the limit of any similarity. Could just as easily say that about Ghost in the Shell, Patlabor, Bubblegum Crisis... the list is practically endless.
Not saying the ship names might not be anime references, but I doubt the ship name Armitage was chosen due to any vague relationship to the Akira anime. I also doubt the Star Trek show writers were specifically referencing anime with the Akira, which is a very common Japanese name. More likely, they were referncing any number of historical figures.
To be fair, I doubt that the Armitage is a reference to the English village of the same name, though there might be some historical significance to the place that I didn't find.
I heard about that toilet thing lol! any way the ship can use the Akira skin and i bought one to try it out and aptly named it the Havoc. To me the new look is just an akira Re-fitted in the 25th century like the Thunder Child. At the core it is an Akira so i made mine look the part.
