I left shortly before the DoFF system was released, and am just now coming back. I can log in with no issue, but the first time I attempted to log in, the character selection screen had random black "noise" spots that would appear. I tried logging into the character, but once all the notifications come up the game locks up (with mouse/kb control still active).

So, I rebooted. When I got to the character selection screen this time, everything was black except for the menus. Attempted to log in, and was able to interact with one dialog screen - I moved it around and it did the "ghosting" thing where copies of it are everywhere. Once another screen popped up (a second or two later) the game locked up again.

System specs (I used to play with this system with no issues, and no other games have problems, such as Skyrim):
W7 64bit, AMD Athlon II X3 440 processor
4gb ram
nVidia GeForce GTX460 (2gb)

DX Diag attached

Alright, just realized my vid driver was dated, and it's updated now. Visuals in space occasionally have the black spot corruption "static" like described before. Contacting via comm mission givers and whatnot shows the portrait, but it's got all sorts of noise/graphical distortion. Ground visuals are just completely warped; static, and mesh/texture distortion.

Please try this -> http://forums.startrekonline.com/sho...d.php?t=202516

if not, your video has been discussed many times previously. may want to scan the threads to see if anything helps:

Grabbed a screenshot after messing a bunch with visual settings. The whole "everything missing but the character's teeth, hair, and belt" is new (started happening after lowering antisoptric filtering). I circled a bunch of the black spots (note that they aren't swaths of missing textures, just weird random spots that look like noise from a bad TV signal) that showed up in this screenshot, as well as a line of... whatever you call it.

Switching to DX9 mode (finally found it) fixed that weird tearing (and the door missing a texture) issue, but the black noise dots are still there, and now... I can't even load to an in-game area. It stops loading anywhere around 45-65%.

*sigh*

More info: Managed to get it "working" by starting in Safe Mode. Highest I can set graphic settings to seems to be "Low", but textures are all sorts of screwed up. Set it back to DX9 again to make sure, and that's not the issue here it seems.

Here's a new screenshot: http://www.classicwfl.com/storage/stoerror2.jpg

The textures flicker and whatnot, too.

I never had this much trouble with it before. What in the hell has changed in the last year?
