I think it's worse in that I'm sometimes called 'Vice Admiral'. Yes, I am aware it's my rank, but it just seems disjointed...
You may have noticed while leveling that the longer strings for ranks add to the mess. It's both awkward and a little ridiculous when NPCs yell out "Rear Admiral Lower Class" and things like that to you, especially in combat. No one does that; Admiral would suffice regardless.
" HAve you seen the Torpedo Target XXX, he was amazing" Sounds legit Or all the orions " have you seen Moist XXX*****" sounds legit.
Hey, it's the Devs who threw in titles like 'moist.'
And if a character wants to have all the NPCs call him that - well more power to him. It's always better to be able to choose for yourself what you wished to be addressed as than be 'forced' to endure a 'Have you seen it Rear Admiral, Lower Half?' (or even just plain 'Admiral') when let's say you'd rather be addressed as 'Captain' - or yes, even 'Torpedo Target' lol.
Just think of non-rank titles as monikers like fighter pilots have - "Maverik" or "Goose" for examples.
