# 1 Getting aggro means noob?
06-18-2012, 06:59 AM
I ran KA space elite. I got aggro with each cubes and Donatra (she ran after me). A player told me if I got aggro it's because I'm a noob. So he said "noob noob noob" again and again while the STF is running. Getting aggro often means noob player? I thought it was due of my ship. Because when I run STF with my vo'quv I don't get aggro. With my bortasqu I always get aggro.

Sounds like someone shouldn't be throwing stones in their glass house.

You get aggro either by DPS or having points in "starship threat control".

Getting aggro means you are worth shooting at. The noob who called you a noob probably has a ship which matches his/her IQ. IOW, so insignificant that it can be safely ignored.

The next time that happens, ask them if their parents had any children that lived... :p

I always preferred the line that came after that in Full Metal Jacket. I think it's infraction worthy for the STO forums unfortunately, it was an impressive insult.

As for aggro that just means you're doing it properly. Most Cruisers aren't specced for Threat Generation anyway so any Escort that's doing it's job properly is going to be receiving a lot of Borg attention. Pity most of those Cruisers don't heal either though, not holding aggro, not dealing a lot of damage and not healing it makes you wonder what they are doing.

I get agro in almost every STF because of my build, 3 cannons 1 torp 3 turrets. I dish out more dps than any other person in the STF in most cases and probably even combined in some cases. Most times I can't get rid of the agro, even by running out of range, regening hull and shields and coming back, the target STILL wants me dead.

The last time someone griped about something like this at me and asked me to stop pulling agro, I simply told them "I'm sorry that I can do more DPS than all 3 of you ******* combined, if you'd like I can stop shooting and we can lose the entire STF".

I pull agro all the freeking time. Its because the damage output on escorts is so much higher than anything else. The crusier is a "noob" for not being able to tank.

I run a bloody cruiser. I pull aggro consistently. In Elites, it can become a bit problematic as I'm not tough enough to face off against five spheres when they've got me tractored, but eh.

I aggro to prevent the escorts from being shot to death. It's my job, it's not noobish.

Aggro doesn't mean you are a noob. If I'm correct, your "Threat Level" is higher.

It is a skill you train you character which makes NPCs become more prone to attacking you and ignoring others.

It gives you a slight Defs boost as well. More suited for an Eng Cruiser who can properly Tank.

Like everyone else has said. Pulling aggro does not mean that you are a noob. They see you as a threat, so they go after you. Its that simple. Oh btw I really hate that term. If anyone calls me a noob, they get thrown on my ignore list.
