# 1 Ships On A Ground Map?
06-15-2012, 05:48 PM
I was looking at the StarbaseUGC shared assets, and I noticed in the trailer video for the Freighter by SaberDruid that it looks like there are some ships outside.

I was wondering how this was accomplished? I didn't think there were any ship assets that could be used on ground maps.

I think that's an "Interior" map not a surface map. But I saw what appeared to be ships outside windows at ~26, ~56, and ~58(maybe the same ship as 26).

Hmmm.... do any of the available backgrounds have ships in them?

Well, the text says it's Meadow Clearing 01. It looks like they are some of the ships that can be made in the costumes, but I didn't think you could select ship costumes on ground or interior?

It could be a background image, or some sort of detail object. Someone has to know.

After thinking some more.... it's a ground map carefully done to simulate an interior map. I'm not really sure how it was done though. My clue here was that the background has a definate horizon in it. Interior maps typically don't have those.

It was just built at 800 to 1000 elevation. I understand how that was done, I just don't understand how the ships were included.

Didn't there used to be a bug where we could skin ground contacts as ships?

I... I don't even know how he made that map! Let alone got starships on it. Half that stuff... the lights in the transporter room... the things he made the captain's chair out of, the arches in the hallway...

I don't even know where to begin, let alone guess how he got all those ships to appear outside the windows.

OMG I just looked... !!

I have no idea how this was created. No idea at all, and I'm pretty clever with the use of assets. How was that transporter room made? I'm blown away.
