The Science Vessel Retrofit has the same console and Boff Layout as the luna with less shields, a lower shield modifier and less hull, but with 1 degree/sec more turn-rate. It's also going to be much, much harder to get, so it's not really worth it.

The Fleet Science Vessel retrofit, on the other hand, has a LtC Tac slot, which could be very useful. It still has stats lower than the Recon Science Vessel, but they are better than the SV-R. Unfortunately, it still has the same console layout as the RSV (strange since every other fleet retrofit has ten consoles, so I would have expected the FSV-R to have 2 eng 4 sci and 4 tac given the tactical bent it has).

I think the SV-R would be better off having the stats and console layout it has but with a LtC. tac boff slot, to give it a bit more advantage over the RSV, and more reason to actually get one.
Wait - I thought all of the Fleet ships were going to have 10 consoles? Could it be a bug?

Looks like will be a while before those of us desperate for a T5 Nova can obtain one:

(from the wiki)
Tier 3 Shipyard
■ Science Vessel Retrofit
■ Fleet Science Vessel Retrofit

Assume one is Nova class and the other Rhode Island?

no , both are nova , just different boffs and consoles , you can use the rhode island skin on either if you have it though

Sure do - used a Rhode Island type from T2 right up to near the end of T4. I miss that little ship, and am estatic that I will, eventually, get to fly a T5 version.

No joke - once my primary, Science, toon gets that ship I'll never be flying anything else. I'm probably one of the biggest Rhode Island type fanboys there is!

Just looks like it could be a while before that happens, since it appears that it can only be obtained via a Starbase with a T3 shipyard.

Whilst I am pleased that we're getting one at all, I do wish it'd been obtainable via dilithium or the C-store

Don't get me wrong - I think it's great too. Just saying, it it'd been a straight-out C-store purchase I'd have brought it in a heartbeat.

Will be interesting to see if it'll take cannons too - I seem to recall that it can take 'single' cannons, not sure about dual cannons. Eitherway, could put cannons to good use on a nimble little ship, with a healthy turn-rate, like the Nova!

Yeah - pretty sure I had some fitted to my T2 Rhode Island when was using it. Would be great if the T5 could take duals though - would be a Sci-Escort (Sciscort?!) of sorts!

And thanks for posting the pics - seems like we'll have a choice to make when the time comes!
