I use the Borg shield on my D'Kora, works very well. But of course, on my Defiant it needs all the shield health it can get.
I completed a two-man ISE, CSE, KASE, and HSE. We are the Borg. Irrelevancy is irrelevant.
If you say banana slowly, you can hear the word gullible in it.
There's no Q in Star Trek.
I agree, seeing as how something so small really is like flying around in a tin can. Just one shot from much of anything will kill it.

I recommend the Aegis Set. Escorts were made for quick strikes, like with hit and run tactics. The best move is to get in and get out of the firing line fast enough, especially with such a small ship like the Defiant Class. With that in mind, the Aegis Set sounds like like it may be a good option for you, seeing as how it is best in protecting quick moving ships. Don't even try using it on a Cruiser, because you cannot park and snipe with it and expect to live very long (I know this from experience.). Aegis Set only protects moving ships, so Escorts are the only viable users.

Agreed. At this point, it is really the only thing keeping my Odyssey alive! () At the moment, it relies entirely too much on torpedoes. The next 10 million () that I get is going toward giving it a full turret build like my Negh'Var. Hopefully, that build will make my Odyssey actually worth using.

Opens EC wallet.
Now about this dilithium tax... We will require your soul this time as well.

[7:39] [CatPhone] MurrZhan@Okamikorp: I started to think about it. But I think is right. Ferasans would speak a form of Swahili.
As for the new Odyssey build, we may have to just forget about that for the time being. I checked the Exchange for the Polarized Disruptor Turret Mk XII [acc] [dmg]. They have been holding steady at a little under 3 million each, and the Disruptor consoles are still ridiculously priced......
So, 7 of those turrets, plus 2 of the consoles. You would think I had learned my lesson on my Fleet Negh'Var. But nooooooo; I still have the urge to make my useless Sci Feddy into something actually worth using. So, who can outwait who? I am starting to think the Exchange may win this waiting game.
Why not grind out the marks needed to get your Feddie to T4 Romulan Rep and do the single cannons Mk XII store unlock? I mean then you can get your Mk XII [Acc][Dmg] and the KDF has a mission you'll only need to re-run twice to get the Mk XI Rare damage consoles to boost them. Plus you can set things fire!
Plus it'll keep you distracted from the money grubbing Ferengi running the exchange. There is the slight downside of each piece costing almost 29k dilithium each, but you can save that up during the grind easy.

I have full 8 beam Arrays and the Aegis shield, my Engine and Deflector are both the Assimilated ones. And I have a base DPS of about 1992 doing broadsides.
He is full beams right now, and that is only effective in broadside. With something as huge as my Odyssey, it cannot turn well enough to keep things in a broadside range. 4 beams in one direction is less DPS than all 8 turrets firing in any direction. Plus, I can use cannon abilities to upgrade my attack to more than 2k DPS.
As for the Romulan Reputation, he is already at T4. I like the idea of Plasma starting fires, but the damage does not stack. Once a fire is set, you are only running on the base DPS of the weapons themselves until the fire goes away. Then you start another fire, and the cycle all over again.
With that proc, a full load would not be any more effective than just having one Plasma weapon. With Phased Polaron, EACH BOLT FIRED gives me a significant chance of shutting down a subsystem AND draining power from what remains. The stacking is far more effective.
