I like the newer ESD, but I hate the signage.

I'm glad the "new" spacedock was added, since it's certainly more appropriate (and more canon).

But I wouldn't mind seeing the original starbase appear in various starsystems. Perhaps as a replacement for Starbase 39-Sierra ?

I wouldn't mind if Starfleet updated ESD to some newer version, but I would expect that the newer version would be more in line with the aesthetics that Starfleet has. i.e. a 2409 version of ESD, would look similar, just newer/shinier, perhaps more aggressive with the Klingon War.

ESD and DS9 and K7 are all really fanservice, it doesn't make much sense that these facilities haven't been massively upgraded or replaced. DS9 was a old mining station and a bucket of crap when the Federation inherited it, if any station should have been scrapped and replaced with a much larger facility able to handle all the traffic to/from the Gamma Quadrant as well as acting as a bastion of defense its DS9.

I disagree. Starbases are HUGE facilities. Not the kind of thing you replace without dire reason. They are essentially cities. You might clean them up or add bits every few decades but you don't replace them.

Here's a big shocker!!!!

A game named "Star Trek" Online, providing "fan service" to Star Trek fans? Wow!!!

I get it, some people highly dislike the looks of DS9 and other stations. At the same time, there are people who LOVE the looks of DS9 (myself included). Complaining about a 50+ year old station, not having been upgraded, when you have Constitution and Miranda Classes in the game, sounds a bit counter-intuitive to me. Those ships are 140+ years old, and still in wide use (atleast during the lower levels of the game).

Now, in regards to your complaints:

I would like to keep the current DS9 in it's place, seeing as it's become an iconic location both due to it's role in history (frontline base during the Dominion War), as well as being on the door step to the first (and only) stable wormhole to the Gamma Quadrant.

I would however, like to see an updated Cardassian starbase design, in use in the Cardassia system, and possibly other border systems that may/may not be controlled by the Cardassian Union.

Deep Space K-7, could arguably be in need of replacement, but again this may be due to "fan service". I would assume within the past 150+ years, K-7 (if still in use), would've been replaced by a "Starbase 375"-type starbase in the very least.

Earth Spacedock like DS9, is an iconic starbase design, with alot of history behind it. If there are starships that are over 100 years old, still in active service, I see no problems with having starbases that are YOUNGER, remain in active service.

The "old and busted" Earth Spacedock, I would like to see moved into various Federation outpost worlds, including possibly in a retextured form, orbiting Vulcan.

Looking at it with fresh eyes, I think it would be cooler as a non-Federation station with a bit of work.

My vote is actually to tint the thing D'Kora orange, make the glow-y bits yellow and have it be a Ferengi station.

The devs did some work with a Ferengi themed interior with the D'Kora bridge.

From there, my vote would be to take DS9's current interior, Ferengi it up (including a new second floor set of windows), make it the new Ferengi hub -- which could be great for high stakes dabo, DOff assignments, Lobi, holo-Hamlet themed stuff (a Ferengi program according to the text), etc.

And then let Tacofangs re-do DS9 as he wanted to.

The beauty is, nothing gets wasted.

Re-use current DS9 interior (with some texture changes, wall changes, and a revised second floor) and old ESD exterior... and then let Tumer/Taco's new effort be the DS9 interior he wants to do.

The current Quark's looks a bit off as Quark's but would be great for a new Ferengi bar, with some tweaking. The Bajoran temple could be the Nagus' Embassy (if you look at classic footage, the Nagus' throne room was the Bajoran temple with a throne in it). A lot of the fleet starbase decor and Ferengi consoles would help hide that it's current DS9.

Then with all of those assets tweaked for use elsewhere as a Ferengi starbase, Taco can pitch an enhanced DS9. After all, DS9 seems to be the preferred hub for many endgame players and if the game begins at endgame, why not re-work it (as people have been requesting forever) to accommodate that?

That could also allow for a re-mastered DS9 Fleet Action... and if they need extra incentive to retouch DS9, they HAVE been teasing at mirror stuff and could justify the revamped DS9 by including it in the map budget for Terok Nor.
