Interesting read but I have one question: when am I going to get to beta test it?

So lets say as a player, I want to focus more on engineering and I choose the Cruiser as my ship. Does that mean further down the line I'd be able to do something like have faster engines as opposed to a player focussing on tactical with the same ship?

I don't think so. From the way they describe it, your specilization only really seems to come into pplay on groundside mission.

By all means keep it all rolling out. Detail and info I get to obsess over makes waiting for beta and/or release that much more bearable.

I think the cannon weapons refers to phaser cannons like those on the Defiant class, or disruptor cannons like those found on Birds of Prey. So I think that your assessment is right, escorts will be light, maneuverable ships that can bring a lot of concentrated fire on a target.

Great information. Well put together and explained. With that said, does the Klingon ships and crew work the same way or is it done differently?
