A little sparse on the wording but it's appreciated nonetheless.

Im hoping the delay of information means they'll have an equal but different system entirely.

I like what I am hearing...it is simple enough for everyone, yet has enough complexity to keep us engi-geeks proud.

I am really looking forward to this game.

Probaly just missing something or misunderstood something.
Bridge Officers are equiped like armor. You get a schematic of your bridge and drag+drop your BO into the slots.
Then their abilities show up on your interface.

The cruiser group is going to be your tank, with lots of weapons to hold aggro, but no "cannon" type weapons. Lots of power and large crew to keep shield strength up, do repairs, and keep the crew healthy. In other words a warrior/fighter/guardian class in MMOs.

The science group is an everything support class, from "healing" (I assume transferring power and doing hull repair) to buffs and de-buffs. They can also detect cloaked ships and probably have some sort of ECM to lock down other ships (ie: cc). So a cross between a cleric/healer/minstrel and wizard/mage/whatever class in MMOs.

The escort class is all about firepower and the maneuverability to to deliver damage where needed, while positioning itself to distribute damage taken a little more evenly. It can slot "cannon" type weapons (I assume they do more damage). Not quite a glass cannon, but close. Much like a ranger/hunter class in MMOs.

I assume that's where we're at so far? It looks good from an MMO perspective, though I wonder if the hardcore ST fans will complain about the "cannon" type weapons? Either way, I'm pretty happy so far.

I assume we'll get a broader range of ships in future expansions since most MMOs offer new classes in expansions?

Thanks for writing this up so far.
I disagree.

The Cruiser also doubles as a "healer" in which it extends it's shields, sends repair crews, ect...

Cruisers are the all powerful support.
Science is the buffs, debuffs, and enhancements.
Escorts are the pure DPS.

Or for a WoW reference:
Paladin
Shaman
Rogue

Rank-locking skills at stations is interesting. I guess simpler stations wouldn't have the more advanced tech.

Well, that's my thematic take on it.
