It is a variant of the commander level Heavy Escort and with the arrival of the Armitage we can fly it at VA level.

To be honest I find it one of the best looking variants and I would sure fly one. But that is when you look at it from the front. The big spoiler is the weird loking pod that hangs at the back. What purpose does it have. There are a lot of windows, so I guess it is for personel; an attack/transport ship?

As it is now it looks like a power muscle car with a caravan behind it. You don't do that.

Replace it with a few parts from the Akira or Oslo classes, or wait until Cryptic (or their dark masters) bring out a Steamrunner or Norway class skins for it.

Cryptic! Need some FREE KDF uniform options that you wont have to make? See Here.

JJ. Trek is just as canon and awesome as all other Trek, Get over it.

The variety available with the Armitage's customization is probably the best in game to be honest. You've got a wide range of sizes you can make it depending on the various parts used, you can make it sleek, chunky, long, short, roll bar, no roll bar etc.

Because of the whole PWE/Cryptic circus I found an old PWE account of my and created a new STO character. I am flying a Zephyr right now. It is a great ship and it looks fine from afar. Zooming in you notice the pod. It is weird. It has a pagode style roof and is connected with two narrow struts to the nacelles. How do you get from the pod to the rest of the ship and vice versa?

A real shame since this ship is in fact a light/escort carrier, so if there where launch platforms on the pod it would make sense, but there aren't any.

From what I can gather for the Zephyr's pod, I would assume something to do with engineering or the shuttle bay. Possibly both.

I think the way you'd get to it is through the small pieces on either side using a turbolift, but sideways. Its very odd, but that's how I would think it would be used.

The funniest thing is, for my design of the Armitage, I actually do use. I don't use it elsewise.

Agreed - I have mine set up with:

Armitage Saucer
Zephyr Hull
Akira Pylon
Thunderchild Nacelles

Love it's look!
