Okay, you've just made me want to see this ship implemented.

Then he'll cry because he'll be rendered completely useless both in PvE and PvP, as even the Galaxy-R will be outperforming it.

This pleases the Destruction God. This pleases him greatly.

You could go out for dinner and a movie while it moved from one end of a sector to another.

GET IT?

I want the cruisers left as they are
100% as they are
not nerfed not buffed not painted yellow
not equipped with fluffy dice

oh and by the way my bog standard Galaxy (not the R)
can handle STF on normal
the R handles them on both settings

I find the X a little slow in the turn (yes ill fly any galaxy variant)

Next time I will remember that the intelligence test for escort captains has two questions

1 what is your name
2 what is todays date

get 50% or more and you pass right??

and yes thats a JOKE
I'm so proud of you, bonnie kin.

Though I won't get rid of my fluffy dice that easy.

I take a little offense to that. (even though I know who it was pointed at).
Nothing I've suggested for the Gal-R will, in any way, change how you play your cruisers. At all.

And the arms race began in 2405-2406 when Federation-Klingon hostilities escalated.
(4-5 years before current continuity).
Yes, that's kind of a joke, but really, it explains why ships are getting more and more powerful (and need to be). We have the Borg and Dominion in our backyards, The Terran Empire and the Fed-KDF war still going. Not to mention the devs making STFs where a borg has a ridiculous amount of hull points, and can one-shot...

Wait... were you asking for a Tactical cube?

Wait til the next stf update theres a rumour (so far only a rumour) that cubes will have six facing dependant targets (in otherwords in a standard stf they will engage EVERYONE at once)

and no a tactical cube should last mere seconds against the new battleship

why no sooner should it detect a cube than the "cube buster"torps come on line
3 seconds later the cube is destroyed in a shower of lockboxes and rare borg salvage

Meanwhile the MK L phaser repeater arrays spray in all directions vapourising the probes and spheres

and the borg hail you

"we are the borg . please stop kicking our sorry backsides "

I like the idea of Cubes engaging 6 targets at once. PvE is droll and boring and pointless as it is. Anything to make it more interesting, since we're FORCED to play it just to make any headway in the game.

Can't advance via PvP only, which is flawed design to begin with... Still smile at ArenaNet's innovations with GW2 in that regard.

Level from 1-80 and completely gear up to the best gear in the game without ever so much as touching PvE at all if you don't want to, and without any loss in efficiency either. This pleases me.

But that is aside the point...

...I actually agree they should be left alone, and stronger ships should only come out with Tier 6 when the level cap increases from Vice Admiral/Lieutenent General to Fleet Admiral/General.

Until then, ships are fine as they are.

I believe you can set up the Oddy as a tactical cruiser/batleship. But I agree that a "tactical bigship", that is, a ship that is big and slow, but has an escort Bridge officer layout, would be cool.

Edit: Possibly with "broadside weapon slots"? That is, it has 2 weapons fore, 2 weapons aft, 2 weapons port, 2 weaons starboard, so that, theoretically, you could mount 8 dual beam banks and have any target always in the arc of two of those, for example.

Would like you to please look above you, sir.

See that airplane? I know, it's really high, and hard to see...

...that is the point that was made with this thread.

Nevertheless, Odyssey is far from a tactical marvel. Even an 8x array 2x FAW cruiser is not an ideal choice for a tactical warship (I can get far stronger punches with different setups on different ships). It can tank and heal with the best of them however, and it should be noted that 4-5 Ody's with 8x array 2x FAW setups can be a firework show in the sky.

There are far better options however.

Off topic however, I would like to point out a flaw in your signature... yes, you do pilot a ship. What do you believe the Helm station is supposed to do? The term pilot in and of itself is to define the maneuvering of a vehicle (of ANY vehicle... you can pilot a car, you can pilot a bicycle, you can pilot a fishing boat, etc).

The idea of saying we're "captains" is asinine, given it is my fingers pushing the buttons that are making the ship maneuver, not me giving the commands to someone else to do it for me.

That is what a "real starship" would be like, but ultimately that is not what this game is. It is a game.

And until Cryptic gives me a real Helm officer to dictate maneuver commands to and HE carries out instead of me having to do it myself, I am piloting the ship.

Technically one "Conns" a Ship

As in "Mr Spock you have the Conn"

I do pilot some of my ships (mostly the shuttles)

Really? Who mans your Conn? Your buddy Jeff down the street? I haven't found a way in 2 years of playing the game for someone under my "command" to man ANY station on my ship, far less the helm (and yes, you take the helm of a ship... helm is to refer to the steering aparatus of a vehicle).

Who do you command on your ship? Which one of them carries out the command for a new course heading or tactical maneuver?

If you've found a way to do that without having to pilot the ship yourself, I'd love to hear how you got that function to work.
