into an uprated Galaxy class? the stats say it only has an LT. console for tactical but isn't there ANY other way? If not, this is a MAJOR oversight in the game.

Yeah just use him in the Lt slot. He won't be able to use his higher level abilities, but his low-level ones will work just fine.

But i LIKE my tac Boff. And damn does he have some good skills >< Is there a specific reason they did this?

Cruisers are designed as engineering ships so the that the highest ranking boff slots are engineering ones.

The best you can do is a Lt Com tac slot in a Excelsior refit or an Odessey.

My guess:
Balance.

Escorts are the only ship to have commander tac stations. (BoP's have Cmdr universal).
Most Cruisers have Lt. tac stations as a standard.
Some, like the Adv. Hvy Cruiser-R, Ody's, Bortas, and Galor can use a LtCmdr. tac or uni station.

I believe, it's because Cruisers were meant to be Engineering-focused.
Escorts, Tactical-focused, and Science Vessels, well, Science-focused.
Which is why no escorts or cruisers have commander science stations. No Escorts or science vessels have commander engineering stations. And, thus, no Cruisers or Science Vessels have commander tactical stations.

The one exception is BoP's. You can go all crazy and do whatever the heck you want with the Cmdr station :biggrin:

right it has to do with class. also goes back to the problem that comes when you pick a ship not based on your abilities or those of your boffs or the role you like to play or even the abilities of the ship but only because you think it looks cool.

also why does everything in this game that a person doesnt like think it has to be a bug or an oversight.

some things are done for balance if you could do anything with any ship this game would be pretty damn boring.

But wouldn't it be cool to have a big fat ship with a Commander Tactical station? ^^
