# 1 Best weapon type for PvP
06-28-2012, 12:52 AM
I used to play this game when it first came out, over 2 yrs ago, then I switched to other games, and now I came back (swtor blows), and I'm wondering what damage type to use on my escort ship.

I heard antiproton is good, but for a pvp situation wouldn't phaser or polaron be better since they actually have procs unlike antiproton?

Speaking of Polaron, the proc for that is -25 to all systems, but it doesn't say how long that -25 lasts. Is it for 5 seconds like the procs from the other weapons, or does it stay -25 until the target gets out of combat or how does that work exactly?

Thanks.

I pretty much never fly escorts. But my understanding is that antiprotion should be for tac captains because of their higher crit rate? phasers = king for procs. polaron = idk. dis = you only need on person running this on team. plasma = everyone and their ma has resists to it. tetryeon = good for back up to switch to as not too many folk resist specifically against it.

my reccomendation is phasers for the proc. ap if you're a tac. but probably someone more familiar with escorts can help you with that.

Phaser is definately the most potent proc... Too potent? Perhaps.

Antiproton has an innate proc (i.e. it isn't a chance/rolled for) which boosts crit severity. If you're specced right, the extra DPS adds up fast. Unfortunately there are no available antiproton weapons with decent modifiers (iirc there aren't even [Acc]x2s) so their use is very limited at best.

Phaser is pretty much king of the roost.

If you happen to own a Galor, the Spiral-Wave Disruptors are the best weapon type.

I have seen a few of late call phasers cheesy. To me that says it all. Otherwise I see it as situational.

Tac on an escort? Antiprotons or phasers

Engie in a cruiser that wants to actually tank? Tetryons for sure or possibly Polarons

Flying a Garumba and want the javelin to mean something? Disruptors

For everything else there are phasers.

Eww I use phasers on my Qin Raptor.

If you are a pickle in a pickle jar you know every pickle's different, sort of, but really they're all just pickles...
They taste the same.

Phaser proc is the most noticeable. Not sure if its broken or if its because there are now a lot of pets using this weapon type.

still sticking with polaron for energy stripping goodness
