From what I saw, if I remember correctly, upscaled T2 ships take a penalty to shields and don't get the 10th console slot. Upscaled T3 ships get the shield penalty. The "Fleet" variant of each gets a 10% bonus to shield and hull over the non-Fleet variant.
Or at least give them something to make up for it such as higher bonus defence ratings and lower inertia. As it stands I'll still be looking forward to getting my hands on the T5 Sabre but I'll be a little sad I've gained nothing over my current Fleet Escort despite the effort (and cost) involved in getting the Sabre over the Maelstrom.
That would be nice. Give less hull, but keep the shield modifier the same as the rest of the ships of the same type, (All science vessels have 1.3 all escorts get .9 cruisers are 1.0). I don't have a huge problem with a boost for fleet ships.
I just came back from Tribble after checking the stats of the new ship variants and retrofits. I have to say, all of my enthusiasm I had for these is now gone and assuming there won't be any changes made I don't see any reason to invest in anything other than a Fleet variant of a pure Tier 5 ship.
I really wanted to fly a true Tier 5 Sabre. I did expect it to have some drawbacks or different modifiers than other Rear Admiral level ships, but in its current form it is outright useless...
Honestly, why would I want to fly an Escort Retrofit it it has way less HP than the Patrol and Advanced Escorts, as well as even smaller Shield Modifier (0,7 vs 0,9)? The ship's turn-rate isn't higher, it doesn't have any more device or console slots... It's basically a Tier 4,5 ship - worse than the ones all players get for free when they reach Rear Admiral rank...
This escort is just an example of course, as this is an issue with all Retrofits (and most Fleet Retrofits as well) - they are simply not worth the "money" (Fleet Marks), aside from perhaps roleplaying purposes, or players who absolutely want to fly ther T5 Nova whatever the cost may be.
If this is intentional and the stats are not going to be adjusted, so that these ships can at least compete with other T5 vessels, then I'm seriously going to be disappointed. There's simply no reason for an escort player to invest in anything other than Fleet Defiant, Fleet Patrol or Fleet Armitage, as the others are just not up to par.
