That's too bad. My father still watches Matlock today. At least he got up there, 86 is pretty good.

I miss Mayberry.... I might have been very young when it came ou, but i saw a lot of the andy Griffith Show oon re-runs.

Grew up on it. Even though he was in his Matlock days when I was a kid, we still watch The Andy Griffith Show.

I was very sad to hear this today.
In College, when we didn't have cable TV, Andy Griffith, and MASH were my bread and butter. I love those shows dearly, and AG always made me feel better when I was down.

On a facetious note, Don Knotts died in 2006, George Lindsey (Goober) died in May, Andy Griffith just passed. . . is Ron Howard next!?

Same here. Always watched the reruns when they were on. Not enough guys like him left and that's a sad thought.

The Andy Griffith Show was a staple of my childhood, and I'm not embarrassed to admit that I enjoyed a Matlock or two as well. Andy was also excellent in various other appearances.

If you never saw him play a heavy, you might have assumed that he always played the folksy, white-bread good guy, but that wasn't all he could do. Sure he got a bit typecast, but that's a testament to how good he was in those iconic roles. But he could bring the nasty.

i grew up with Andy and Mayberry. i still to this day catch myself whistling that tune. you know the one or you may not. that was before a lot of people's time.

Considering Ron Howard was about ~35 years younger than the rest, I would imagine he'll be around for a while.
