Greetings. I recently got my hands on both the D'kora and the ferengi shuttle and im wanting to start a new ferengi themed build for the set (getting lobi items as they come)

Now im just wondering, what sort of captain class works for the D'kora?

Ive been told that sci captains dont work as well but both Eng and Tac captains can work.

I just wanted to see what the forums had to say about it before i jumped head long into it.

I asked this same question a while back and ended up giving my 1st D'Kora to my FED SCI captain. Primarily as an incentive to use that toon more, but as it turns out it is very effective in STF's and I have enjoyed it.

When I got my 2nd D'Kora I knew I wanted to give it to one of my KDF toon's but only have a TAC and SCI, so again chose the SCI. (If I had a KDF Engineer that would have been my 1st choice since I like flying Escorts with my TAC captains and SCI had a Karfi).

The D'kora's excellent BOF layout and unique features make it a good mix of cruiser / Escort jack of all trades and it is a lot of fun to fly. I feel that it can be effective with any captain but may better compliment a TAC or ENG.

The D'Kora's main strength is that it's the only ship (aside from the massively unmaneuverable Dreadnaught) which a Federation Captain can fly that lets them use Dual Heavy Cannons AND run two copies of EPTS2. Depending on how you set it up, it can be a high-damage Tank, or a very survivable DPS boat, or a mixture of both.

Concerning Captain choice:

Eng is best for survivability.
Tac is best for raw DPS.
Sci is a middle ground.

I've got a Fed Tac Captain in a D'Kora, who is quite a competent Damage Dealer on STFs - a little worse DPS than on an Escort, but a little more survivable as well. It plays quite similarly to a Fleet Escort or Guramba (albeit with a few less Tac Powers and few more Engineering powers).

It also has a "Free" (if not always 100% reliable) tractor beam shed in the form of the inherent "normal mode" EMP Pulse power, meaning you can likely get away without taking Attack Pattern Omega or Polarize Hull in PVE.

@The OP:

You will probably get more responses, but the above quote pretty much covers your question top to bottom.

Thanks for the posts guys.

Think ill probably go with a Tac then. Ive already got a level 50 eng andorian so Tac is the only one ive yet to fill on the fed side. Also means i get to see a Ferengi lunge kick borg to death
