# 1 Canon Bridges and ship Layouts
07-07-2012, 06:27 PM
Can they finally come out with bridges from the series, motion picturesm and the latter movies? The only two canon bridges from the Fed side they came out with was the TOS Constitution bridge and layout, and the Defiant Bridge. What about the Motion Picture Bridges from the six Star Trek Movies with Kirk? There were 3 types of bridges and the interior layouts used in those movies were different than whats offered for the ships now. What about the TNG Bridges and the four movies following that? The interior layout on the Galaxy is quite diferent than that on the Sovereign. Walking on the decks in the sauser section of the Galaxy would be more beam width while walking in the sauser of a Sovereign would be more elongated. Plus the coridors shaped different between the different classes.

I don't like the current engine room layout. I don't like how this one is canted at a wrong angle in relation to the deck layout. I rather have a choice between canon engine rooms from all the sereis and movies. If you don't want to take the time to remake Engine Rooms, then why not let us tailor our own?

Possibly because the bridge layouts don't sell, and why would Cryptic do something now that doesn't directly tie into C-Store purchases?

I hear tell they're also planning on doing a Voyager Package, which if the other two are any indicators will include a canon interior. It'll also probably have a shuttle, a special weapon and maybe a uniform as well. Probably be one for the Galaxy and Sovereign at some point as well but I wouldn't expect it to come very soon if the time between the TOS interior and the DS9 one is any indicator.

Um, you must not have been in this game very long. Most of the bridge packs were from C-store, and I payed for most of them that was relative to the ship types I had.

Might be because that bridge in the six original movies changed dramatically with each new filming because after each film, the producers were like "Well, that's a wrap, scrape the set!" untill they saw the sells figures on the movie, and decided to try and make another one. About the only movie they thought ahead for a sequel was Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, which only had a quick snap shot of the bridge at the end. Between V and VI, the bridge went form shiny white futuristic touch screens to a more muted, button and throttler controls with a soft carpet.

So, you'll have to decide WHICH of the bridges to include, how to include them, and then you have to spend time drawing up, designing, and post producing these bridges. All in the hopes that a portion of the population loves to get anachronistic with their gear. (Seriously, I love the Wrath of Khan type uniforms, but this is the 25th century, not the 23rd. Personally, it throws me out of immersion when i see a canon version of it on ESD. But that is a personal opinion.)

My character and her bridge crew still wears theirs with pride. Never takes them off in fact.

The plural of anecdote is not data. My point was that, while they might toss in new bridge packs, those are much simpler to edit relative to an entire ship's interior. While I'm sure the packs sell reasonably well considering the effort put into them, I highly doubt we'll see a release of canon bridges and full interior changes put into the C-Store at the same pace as we see ships. Ships sell, because we're in them the most and you see their exterior the most. Bridges aren't a priority because how many people actually bother to relax onboard, and as such the given price point.

It's pretty clear: 2000Zen for a ship, or 400Zen for a bridge pack? Guess which one PWE will prioritize. It's not a shot at anyone wanting more costumes or visual changes to their ships' exteriors and interiors, but the fact of the matter is this is a F2P game now. If it doesn't tie into the C-Store somehow, there is little incentive to pursue it. Even then, and I judge this only by how long of a wait has been between bundles, they might not sell well enough to warrant more being made. For instance, I would love for the Nebula to get more costumes, aka the ones the Exploration Cruiser gets but for some reason were never ported over to the space manatee. But, I acknowledge that few people buy the Nebula, let alone buy it, so Cryptic/PWE has little incentive to throw in new items for said ship.

Sure, the Galaxy is iconic, but few people actually fly the ship due to the constraints of the game. Maybe if it were to become more powerful, people would buy it, and trigger more sales of a supposed bundle granting the ship and various new features. Again, I'm sure it'd sell, but I don't think they make enough money so far off these things (or this game in general) to warrant them spending more time than they already do on visuals they already have said are clunky to work with.

For me to find any use in this, I'd have to first see the bridge to even be worthwhile.

To date, I have seen absolutely 0 incentive to even look at my bridge, far less worry about what it looks like.

Give my bridge utility, then I might worry about its cosmetics.

However only after the fact.

I manage to turn my Galaxy to a force to be reconed with. The Galaxy is weak in this game because the devs have a bias against it and are all for exscorts, thats why all the new ships turn out to be escort class. Now they made escorts into carriers as well.

Bridge and interior layouts can come all in between seasons, like they have before. Ventage always attract enthuseist. If you make it many of the the original fans of the show will buy them. Mark my word.
