I'm not terribly happy with the way Cryptic has decided to charge us for ships with incredibly minor changes.

We're not being forced to pay for the ships, there are "free" options but they're significantly worse than the Fleet variations. The biggest problem with the new ships is that they're $20 for a ship that isn't worth $20. They have a minor upgrade in hull/shields and get an extra console slot, but outside of that they're just rehashed ships that we've been using for several years.

The only *new* ships for the Fed side is the Aquarius, an unplayable destroyer with lower base hull, and shields than either T4 Escort, minus a rear weapon! It has no advantage at all to what current ships have(in fact its actually worse) and it still costs $20? I don't understand. The KDF side is hit even harder imho. Of the two BoPs they were given to play the Norgh has 16.5k base hull(its a T3 ship, yay) And the Hoh'sus has next-to-nothing for an increase in hull over the Hegh'ta(about 500?), and looks horrible(at least thats my opinion, I would never personally play a ship that looked like that).

In addition to those problems, I *own* the Tactical Escort Retrofit, yet I still don't get it at a discounted price from the Shipyard.

I realize this needed more testing, and the dev team HAS to make Perfect World happy, but if you're doing it at the cost of the happiness of your paying players....you have a serious problem.

Season 6 is live guys! Lets work our butts off to get our Starbases to the level where we can *pay Cryptic to use the same tired old crap*.

Sorry for the ranting and nerd rage. But it needs to be said.

So they added the Tac oddy's support ship as something we can fly? interesting.

So, to clear up. When you buy a Fleet ship, you don't even get a new special costume for it. It's the exact same thing, only with T5ish level stats?

Cause I've kinda heard it being said both ways. Fancy new look alongside the stats, and the same old look, but better stats.

Sigh. and the release notes were PARTLY bringing me out of the "Meh STO" level I've been at. This kinda stuff alongside the STF information they've been talking about for a good while, and now going "It'll be way later." does not make me enthused.

Hell, a friend said Cryptic better be releasing big and great stuff, especially with GW2 just around the corner.

Edit: At the very least, I will say it is a nice thought that they are adding in some lower tier looks to Tier 5, it'll definitely make starship events more diverse (I hope at least) instead of everybody being in the exact same escort or cruiser.

You do get a new costume. But they're the same old costumes with a bluish tint for most of them, very similar to what the MACO shields do for your ship.

So far the only ships you can get for free from what I can see is the non-fleet retrofits of low tier ships. I also think that if a ship can't be discounted it should be an account wide unlock. There was no where near as much development time for a ship using the same models and Different stats.

Maybe a idea to evade a playerbaserage against the Fleet ships would be a simple math solution.

They want to sell a t5 ship for 25 euro (20 ground version 5 upgrade)
So they can make a 16 euro ship upgradeable for 10 euro (16 + 10 = 26) for ships u already have. Its still a high price but way smoother to take ...

It is all REALLY disappointing.

I've always said that I was willing to pay a little over the odds for a T5 Nova class - the Rhode Island variant is my absolute favourite Trek ship.

I am NOT, however, certain that I am willing to pay THAT MUCH over the odds.

They dont want that we get the ships without spending Real money. We have some ways to avoid spending rl money like dil Exchange , buy it from ec Exchange or waiting for monthly stipend. ( have a lifetime ) so what should they do to get our money? Right! Make the Game to a grindfest so that player with less time need to buy it if they realy want it in any near future. And they kill 2 flies with one hit. The unloved klingons get no Chance of 1 Modul ships so the hardcore Fans buy it and the others hate it and leave klingon gameplay. So cryptic can say again klingon are not worth to developing because noone want to play them.
Cryptic/pwe get some little money for the ships and can justivy no developent.

I think we are all frustrated. I was under the impression that the Fleet system was suppose to get people tier 6 ships without conflicting with the c-store. I listened to all the pod casts and I was never under the impression that you were building star bases for an opportunity to spend all that money.

When I look at the Odyssey That is still a much better deal then the fleet exploration cruiser retrofit. At this point I don't think it is going to be worth it. I might as well wait for the tier 6 ships to hit the c-store.

When I see this it make me wonder if only the very rare gear is free and all this Ultra Violet stuff will cost money.

Their lack of communication and intent undermines trust.

and btw. did not they say, that these ships would be cheaper?

some might be cheaper by 500 zen, but they are 2500 retrofits, which means they have a cooler console than the 2000 versions.

and now you would say, at least it is not more expensive. yes it godamn is. you have to grind grind grind for your fleet ship. ofc not fleet creds, because you get a lot of it, but to get your starbase to military t5

I have to agree that the prices are too high for the fleet versions. I have bought the following ships
Federation NX Class Starship Replica (NX-01 Enterprise) - 400 (No fleet version)
Federation Escort Refit - Gladius Class - 600 (4 Modules for Fleet Still)
Federation Caitian Atrox Carrier - 2000 (No fleet version)
Klingon Bortasqu' Pack (Bortasqu' Command Cruiser, Bortasqu' Tactical Cruiser, Bortasqu' War Cruiser) - 4000 (No fleet version)
Klingon Defense Force Marauder Patrol Cruiser - 1600 (No fleet version)
Klingon Defense Force Dacoit Flight-deck Cruiser - 800 (No fleet version)
Klingon Defense Force B'rel Bird-of-Prey Retrofit (B'rel) - 1600 (No fleet version)
Federation Long Range Science Vessel Refit - Bellerophon Class - 1200 (4 Modules for Fleet Still)
Klingon Defense Force Corsair Flight-deck Cruiser - 1200 (4 Modules for Fleet Still)
Armitage Heavy Escort Carrier - 2000 (1 Fleet Module fore Fleet Variant)

all bought with real money at full price and only the Armitage gives a discount on the modules and many of them don't have fleet versions. At this rate I see no reason to buy any of the pay ships or even spend anymore money on this game. At another $20 per ship per character either don't waste your money on the Zen store ships or just don't buy the fleet modules. Save your money for something else. I bought the corsair because I heard that having it would give you a reduced cost on the fleet version according the dev on one of the recent interviews. Now I am wishing that I never did buy it as it is still 4 modules. PW will not see anymore of my money for along time after this.

Lock Box Ships get Buffed for free and no fleet versions, Many Pay ships don't get a fleet version and no buff, Pay ships with a fleet version still require 4 modules per ship. It looks like the only ships worth owning are the lockbox ones if you are lucky enough to get one for a decent price on the exchange or after only opening a couple lock boxes.
