this is the 2nd card I'v had to have issued in under a month. first time I bought $20 worth of zen. B&A immediately closed my card and called me informing me my card had been compromised and they would be sending me a new card. Last night I made a purchase of $50 (got me some fleet ships to buy!) but alas this morning I was awoken to B&A fraud protection informing me my card had been compromised once again. They only do this when the person getting your money has been flagged for being compromised somehow (however legally they can't name the company till the company has made it public themselves). My question is: has there been a leak at perfect world or whatever company they use for the transactions or is my bank just being overzealous?
reedit: In their defense, I run a small webhosting company. Even though we're fully incorporated and all the rest, because we were an internet company we were rated medium risk for the first couple (3?) years.
rereedit: heh Probably some BofA employee is a Klingon fan and this is their payback.
BofA is a joke, they are the ones that are high risk with the 50 trillion+ derivative exposure they have. That bank is going to blow up any day now and need another round of bailouts.
My small local bank never has any problem with Perfect World transactions in this game or another PWE game I played.
Seriously, it is really simple matter of some teens getting a hold of Daddy's credit card and buying stuff on PWE or other places online. Then Daddy gets the bill and reports fraud. The company flags PWE's Credit provider NOT PWE itself. I believe they use Moneybookers? If you want to avoid the hassle you could go to any 7-11 (assuming you live in the US) and buy a prepaid Zen card. That's what I do anyway.
in 2010 PWE didn't even own Cryptic - Atari did. The data loss happened under the previous owner's watch. Since PWE have taken owner they have at least attempted to introduce greater security. Additionally PWE do not directly get any credit card information as far as i am aware - this is handled by whichever intermediary payment solution you have chosen when purchasing zen.

I use BoA and just bought $10.00 worth of Zen on my FTP account to see what will happen. I'll post tomorrow if my card gets flagged - or whenever I get an email from BoA saying there's a problem.
If my card doesn't get flagged I suggest you check your computer for spyware or other type of viruses that might be reading the card info as you're typing it into various websites when you buy things.
