Closest I can get to explaining it would be "Ehl-E-Vah-GRR", with a hard G as in Gorn, and pronounced as one flowing word. Better yet, Eli as in "Elite", Va as in "vat" and GR as in this dog may bite--or "ground". Accents on the consonants. Rhymes with helicoptr.

You guys like a challenge, don't you?

Actually, I've never watched Dr. Who (Past ep 1). Silurian is a reference to an old character that a friend of mine use to play that was named after the geological time period that they were studying in college =)
