I recently invested to upgrade from (3) blue MK XI 26% Antiproton Tac consoles, to (3) purple MK XII 30% Antiproton Tac consoles.

I was expecting to see a 12% boost in weapon damage stats. Instead, my antiproton DBB went from 1365 to 1402 base Antiproton damage, or less than 4%.

Is this a bug or some kind of cap in the system?

I am feeling really stupid for spending so much EC on this upgrade.

Am I doing something wrong or is the raw weapon damage being incorrectly reported?

BTW... this is not in sector space. This is in normal space.

I would also note a damage boost such as Go Down Fighting with +24% damage boost works correctly. Why not these consoles?

Am I missing something?

Thanks for any feedback. And feel free to tell me I was silly to have expected something different.

The consoles boost base weapon dmg not the overall dmg. Or at least that used be the case in the past

Even if I look at the specs on the slotted weapon, it's 412 versus 398, which is not a 12% difference one might expect.

For that matter... if the (3) consoles really boosted damage by 78% and 90%, the raw damage specs on the actual weapons should be 525 and 560, based on a 295 starting point.

Honestly, I don't really care if the weapon damage mechanics are such that what I see is what I should have expected. I'm just really mad I waste so much EC on a relatively worthless damage boost.

Arrgghhhh.

EDIT: you know the more I think about it, what I am seeing appears to be non linear stat adjustment, or something very similar to the way the captain skill trees work, where you get the most bang for your $$$ by 6-7 skill points.

I think you need to look on the base dmg of weapon with any bonuses from skills. Not the number you see in the tooltip of your weapons when you press "P" and.

Thanks for the comments...

IMHO, no matter how you slice it, no matter where you look at weapon stats, there is absolutely NO REASON to ever spend EC to upgrade from 26% weapon consoles to 30% weapon consoles.

Maybe, in a PvP battle where an extra 40 damage might help in a mano e mano burn down contest, otherwise what a waste of EC.

Hey, I'll be the 1st to admit, even if the boost was a true 12% and my base weapon damage went from 1365 to 1528, it's probably not worth the investment.

Well, I have learned a valuable lesson.

Yeah, the way consoles stack isn't particularly intuitive. And yeah it uses a dimishing returns formula... That I don't have.

EDIT: ignore what I said earlier, I was wrong about mixing cannon boosting consoles with phaser boosting...

I just retested it with a phaser cannon with 191.1 damage.

+ 22.5 phaser boost: 210.7
+ 22.5 and +24.4: 231.9

+17.5 cannon boost: 206.4
+17.5 +17.5: 221.6

so it's obvious that phaser boosters are stronger. But what is the result of mixing?

+17.5 CB, +24.4 PB: 227.6

not quite as powerful as the two phaser relays.

with all four of the above I get: 262.4
replacing a 17.5 CB with a +24.4 PB gives: 268.4
HAIL HYDRA!

MMOs aren't charities. Corporations are supposed to make a profit. It's what they do.
