So I'm not much of a star trek fan. However I'd always watch it since it was a ritual of my dad and brothers nearly every night.

I was actually having fun! I love mmorpgs and was getting into Star Trek. I finished the tutorial, and I pride my self on my PCs outstanding capabilities. I'm going on 20 minutes loading the game titled Earth Space dock and now its come close to a near halt! Its about .01 percent every minute. Which means now 98 percent after 20-25 minutes according to whats happening its going to take 3 hours to load... I'm sure this game has great potential and seemed like loads of fun, but I cant take this waiting, its ridiculous. Never before encountered a game with load times such as this!

Oh well, since I'm dead bored with my previous mmorpg, my search for a new virtual world continues. Im sure the potential is here, but the load times is a turn off, no way will I wait anylonger as im going on 30 minutes load time after the tutorial. Best of luck to you

Edit: Well, I'm not sure what was causing the problem, but I restarted the game and was loaded up instantly into the Earth Space dock. So what took 30-35 minutes to a dead halt took 15 seconds after restarting. Is working fine now... I don't know anything about it except that I wasn't able, now I am able. I'm not a techie

you should download the entire game, do not activate the "download while playing"
try to use a proxy server like the EU proxy server if you are in europe. it can be found under options on the opening client.
(but actually that option kind of made things worse for me)

also your actual specs would be interesting. Do you have more than 2GB RAM? what kind of internet connection do you use?

I'm sorry to hear you are having trouble loading into ESD. Have you tried logging out and back in? It may have been something with the transfer of your character into the new instance, or something baudl listed above.

Cheers,

ESD Loading is 3 Fold.

1) Cryptic's Servers do get hammered from time to time, though this usually isn't the problem.
2) For some reason, a bunch of people get crappy intermediary connections to Cryptic's Servers. Try using a proxy?
3) Upgrading your Hard Drive. A Faster Hard Drive (especially an SSD) can vaporize a lot of this game's loading issues.

Wait a couple weeks then come back. This game is always buggy and laggy after major updates which they just did. It takes them a few weeks to get it running smoother. Good luck.

I'll attempt some of the suggestions here. Yes I downloaded the entire game, its about 4 gig. There is no option for me to download while playing that I see. It stopped loading half way from 98 to 99 percent so I'm restarting it giving it another go ;p

Upgrading your hardware, to compensate for Cryptic's (imho) ****ty coding. Makes sense.

The real issue, is that there IS an issue with places such as ESD and DS9, that the boys (and girls) at Cryptic should take a look at, and perhaps finally fix.

Try turning off On-demand patching from the options menu on the log-in window. It'll still take awhile to patch somtimes 2-3 hours, but you can do it while you're not there. That way when you go to play all the patches will be pre-loaded and you should be able to get to Earth Spacedock, which is awesome to see if you haven't already.

If you only downloaded 4 gigs then no you have not. the on demand patcher needs to be turned off in the launcher options. its downloading the rest of the game as and when it needs it instead of straight away. coupled with the fact ESD is usually busy, its just after a new season and you may or may not have the fastest internet speed means you are having these problems.
