how would that happen now? for one thing the ship would be wide enough so that to fire the cannons would not be able to engage a target from under the ship or over.

I dont understand what you mean , something this big is going to be slow , so its going to get surrounded right ?
So it has 5 sets of cannons on boths sides , is it going to only fire one side at a time or both ?
Because if it fires both sets , its power levels will be very low constantly on weapons , you'd have to pop EPTW constantly to do any kind of damage whatsoever

An engineering vessel yes, but it's still a battleship. Big guns, lousy turn rate, lots of health... sounds like a battleship to me.

So inhumane superweapons, mass murder, and canon nonsense is okay, but speedos are too much for some people.

yea.....ummm....I didn't know we could actually target 2 ships at once, also the broadfire mode isnt the only mode of fire. it can fire beams from the front and if the ship is getting too beaten up they can just come out of broadside mode and move on.

but to awnser your question it can fire from one side at a time, it will have a special power which lets one side still be armored while the other side lifts the armor for the cannons to fire.

Yeah i goofed , i was thinking of fire at will lol
but still , 5 sets of cannons is a significant drain in itself , i trust these are singles not duals ?

also , any cannon rapid fire abilties would increase the drain too :s

just doesnt really seem viable in my opinion , since 5 sets of cannons and then beams on
top ?
how many weapon slots are we talking here ?

the Gal-X is more like a battlecruiser...with one big gun.

yea its also my bad, ment to add the ship would have a large power generation, in fact it would generate 2x that of a normal ship, hence the serious power lashbacks, the cannons would draw the energy and the ship will give it,

plus I have 4 DHC on my defiant retrofit and the power drain usually never drops below the preset line. having 1 more and half the CD would bring it down to a negligeable tradeoff especially when dealing with a Battleship not a small escort....though the defiant does draw weapon power from the engines...huh this is turning out to be quite a debate.

More like a heavily armed cruiser. It doesn't have the fire control a battleship should have.

What would one even DO with such a boff layout? You'd lose everything that makes a cruiser tanky, and end up with a very slow escort. If you went with a 5t/5e/2s boff layout like the Fleet Vor'cha, then maybe, but this? What tactical purpose would it serve?

Battleships are not supposed to be engineering ships, battleships are not cruisers, they are big hulking gun platforms....hence the console ayout...it is mainly symbolic but holds much more to it.
