3 out of 4 of my screen shots shown are with the same character, and all 4 have the same shield, same skill tree spec, and no other shield buffing consoles present. the test is sound.

I rarely agree with dontdrunk but in this instance he is correct. The shield modifier is better than what it says on the shipyard.

However the hull is still lower for no reason. I'd like that looked at. It needs bringing up to match the other fleet ships. Or at least get close. 30500 is not close to 34000.

Still loving my Sabre. If found a new toy that lets me complete STFs a lot faster. Given I can clear one side of a gate in KASE before the other 4 members of the team can clear their side.

i win over everyone eventually lol. the difference between 30500 and 34000 hull is miniscule. it can be removed in a single DHC strike in the space of a server tic. once your on the ropes and taking pure hull damage it buys you next to no time. only near death hits that you have time to react to is were an extra 3500 hitpoints might make a difference. only differences of about 10k start being noticeable beneficial.

In case you're wondering, my fleet somraw has a .935 shield mod instead of .71 and is a retrofit from t2 like the saber.

Yeah... but I do agree that there needs to be something done. For those of us who actually pay attention to the numbers and not just to looks (aka the ones who actually GaF about their combat capability) accurate shield numbers would be nice. Shields are important. I don't really care about the whole cost discrepancy, with certain p2p ships being crappier than f2p and tier 1 being stronger than tier 5, but I do care about the fact that a ship with a .7 LISTED shield actually has a .9, or a ship with a 1.2 LISTED shield actually only has a shield of .7 etc.

I used to pay very close attention to the numbers when picking a ship (I will grant you appearance did come into play, but only AFTER I looked at the numbers), now I am not so sure, since ships that should be performing better are doing worse, and stock ships are beatin them out. God this is really starting to remind me of a game I left for this one...

The reason we disagree so much is because you look at everything from a pvp perspective and I look at things from a pve perspective.

That 3500 hull difference is before skills and modifiers. Meaning is probably closer to 6k after that stuff. An extra 6k hull is the difference between being one shot by a borg torpedo and being left on 10% hull. The difference between life and continued damage, and death and another ship injury.

i can confirm my performing better ship is performing better, the fleet vorcah has the advertised shield mod and not worse. so far its just the worse ships that are better then advertized.

now if that wasn't the case, i would have been very vocal about it in the more populated forum sections. but right now, i just hope they don't 'fix' my ktinga down to .94.

yes once modified the difference in base makes a difference. but only when a ship has about 10k more total hitpoints so you really notice a difference, in my opinion. in stfs, whats most likely to kill you is something that would 1 shot you regardless of weather you have 40k or 50k hitpoints.

i look at everything from a pvp perspective because you have to use almost 100% of your ships potential to succeed there, and have a strategy, and be a good pilot, etc... even the hardest pve can be done with much less effort on the users part, with only 1 shots to worry about. the only way to fail an stf is if someone makes a CRITICAL mistake, or no one on the team brought any dps. these are 2 common occurrences unfortunately.

The listed shield modifiers are correct but the ships gain a 'flat' shield bonus on top of it making them perform better with inferior gear but have worse scaling with better gear.

Test I performed on the HC Retrofit is here:

From those tests I believe the HC Retrofit gains a roughly 1,250 'bonus' to total shield amount that is not modified by anything. Its really, really messed up.

Okay, now I've got a head ache. So after we take into account the potential misposting of the shield modifier and/or static and unmodified shield buff, does the Fleet Escort come out competitive with the Fleet Patrol Escort?

And given their identical console layout, turn radius and near identical BOFF layout, why wouldn't they find some way to give the Fleet Escort a different feel than the Fleet Patrol Escort?

fleet saber should have been a nice simple escort with a LTC eng imo, just like how the fleet nova got a LTC tac
