I haven't been playing this game very often and I am way behind in season 2! Well, at least now I am in the middle of it. And I would like to catch up to players all the way in season 7. But I don't know how to do that or what is the best way to get to that level. I keep thinking by the time I get to season 7 season 9 will be released by then. What should I do to improve?

I honestly have no idea what you mean by "catching up" on the seasons. Could you be a little more specific?

As far as I know, all of the content released since season 2 can be played (as long as your max level of course).

Do you mean as far as acheiving all of the new gear added to the game?

Season 7 was a revamping of end the game STFs and creating a new end game side advacement system for max level (50) characters. The Reputation sytems in accessed via U -> Reputation tab. You need Marks of the faction of the Reputation system is for. You do Borg STF and Fleet Alerts for Omega Fleet Rep. And the new Tau Dewa sector missions and New Romulus Ground for New Romulus Reputation.

What I mean by catching up is: Try to play through the missions untill you reach season 7. Is there a quicker way to do that?

Season 7 content is for level 50 (max level) characters. So it doesn't matter how you get there. Level up how your wish.

Seasons aren't missions, at least not necessarily. Season 6 was some queue content and the fleet system, season 5 was mainly the doff system, season 4 was a ground combat revamp, season 3 was a sector space overhaul and the foundry, etc.

If you're talking about the feature episodes, you just have to play through them

There isn't a feature episode for Season 7, however, but you have to be level 50 to access the content. There are Romulan ambassador's posted at several locations to initiate the initial quest, and these can be played alongside the feature episodes.

As long as you're level 50, you can access the Romulan content. There is no need to play through the feature episodes to access it, although they tend to be the fastest way to burn to level 50, as long as you concentrate on them and your duty officer missions.

As far as missions are concerned, just hold off on visiting the Tau Dewa Sector Block until you've completed the mission "Cutting the Cord". That way you won't skip any of the story.
