how does it actually work?
should not it prevent an ignored person to get into the same match as I am? that is what everyone told me it does...

is there a way to really ignore these really helpful community builder players?

Ignore is chat channel and forum posts only.

I think the ignore function only removes them from your chat, stops them from sending tells and team invites. There is currently no way to avoid specific players in STFs, short of making private matches and not inviting them.
Many a player has asked for it to prevent you from being placed in the same match as them.
